Natalie,
We were planning on getting the igroove, did he mention this at all?
Also, and this may be a dumb question, but we only have a Nano, do you think we should get the larger ipod for the wedding? Quote:

Here is some advice from a guy who specializes in the audio section. Here is the company link Plantronics Home Page Glad to answer your questions. It is possible to plug a microphone into the Aux-in jack on either the iM9 or iM7. But it needs to be the right kind of microphone -- must have a 3.5mm jack (or use of an adapter to get to 3.5mm) and the microphone must NOT require an electric current (must be a dynamic mic.) We have not tested this, but on paper this should work.
Which is better? Depends on the use. The iM7 puts out more sound and it has a built-in sub woofer, so you get natural, rich low frequencies. And the configuration of the speakers provides a wider sound Field (more room-filling sound). But it is not quite as transportable as the iM9. The iM9 sounds really great -- that is REALLY great! -- for a portable speaker system. It is designed to be more rugged for lots of travel. It does a pretty good job of filling a room with sound, but the sound field (the area of the sound source) is tighter than the iM7. The iM9 will charge and sync the iPod -- it likely that the user could locate the iM9 next to the computer. The iM7 will charge the iPod, but does not have sync'ing capability. The iM7 is truly an iPod sound system where the iM9 offers more flexibility of use with the iPod.
Hope this is helpful.

A Nano is all that I have too and I think it will be fine. Just in case however I did plan on bringing a laptop with music.
The onky thing I am unsure about is whether ir not I should mix the special ceremon/ reception songs into the mix or put thiem in there own playlist so they ca be easily found.
Another ?
If you stop the playlist to play the first dance song for example can you resume the playlist at that point or does it start from the beginning?

The best way to do it is by creating different folders for each wedding part such as:
Ceremony
Cocktail
Dinner
Cake Cutting, 1st Dance, Father & Daugther, Mother & Groom
Reception
and placing them on the play list, this is the best way to do it otherwise it wouldnt be organized.
In case you have any doubts please let me know you have my email address.

This is interesting, because I had never imagined of using our IPods. So, are people who are using them still planning on hiring a DJ or who do you hire to control the music for the now. I think playlists are great, but I would also want the music to be somewhat spontaneous. I would be interested to hear what is the exact setup for doing this. Thanx fo the great info so far

I just talked to the wedding coordinator at our resort today about the Ipods. She said we can rent their PA system and hire someone to run the music and microphone. It was fairly cheap too.

Thanx fo the great info so far | The reason why they hire a DJ is beacuse they provide two different services:
1. DJ service includes all the equipment, MC´s, and mixing service charged by hour.
2. IPOD DJ service, they provide the speakers, MC´s and their service to control the IPOD the fee is charged for all the event.
Here is a thread from the Music & entertainment area on the forum.

Thank you for this post. I was wondering how I was going to use my ipod for the wedding and reception. Does anyone want to share what songs they are doing for their play list? I am trying to assemble as much jazz song ideas a possible for the cocktail hour as well as when they are waiting for me to come down the aisle. I think I am going to upolad my processional song also instead of having a live harpist (saves about 200 dollars). I just have to find a good harp version of Prelude in C by Bach.
I have a very rough draft list of songs that I am planning on using. Feel free to take a look.
Kori
