So frustrated! I can't seem to nail down a city, island or country to host my wedding... much less the actual ceremony/reception resort/hotel. There is just too much to choose from, I am so overwhelmed.
All I want is:
Some place beautiful
not too hard to get to
makes planning easy
not a million dollars
Why can't I seem to find the right place? My parents are even now on the search for me. Clearly I need help.
Any suggestions?

How about a cruise? Of course I am partial to them because that's what we chose :). With a cruise you will stop at several islands/countries and be on the ocean the entire time! Plus, the cost can be very affordable depending on what you choose.

I think the cruise is a great idea if you are not sure on just what to do. This way to get to island hop and have fun doing it. My gf did this in May and loved it. She was married in the B.V.I. on a beach.

I would get a TA involved. There are great ones on here. Tammy Host is one. We changed our minds also. And finally decided on Cabo. What is easy flight for NY? I would start there. To try and narrow down your search. Good luck. I promise the destination is the hardest part after that things fall into place.

I suppose a TA would be a good idea, though as a travel planner/concierge, you would think I could nail this down on my own. I fell in love with Moondance villas today, but my FI feels uncomfortable asking his friends/family to spend so much (it is not a budget minded place). I like the idea of people being able to choose a villa or hotel room-- there will only be 20 or so people I am guessing.
I suppose I should let go of finding the "perfect" place. *Sigh. Frustrated.
My parents are not keen on cruises, and after working on ships myself for a year, I prefer to stay on solid ground. :)

I know the feeling because I'm going through that myself. I think you should talk to a travel agency to help you with some choices. There is the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana). They have great all inclusive resorts there and is less expensive than Mexico and probably Jamaica. You can also check out U.S.V.I which does not require a passport and is beautiful. Good luck!

Cabo San Lucas is amazing and fairly affordable. I did my wedding here for around $15,000 with 50 people.

Are you in the NYC area or the state? If you're near the city, you're probably dealing with too many places being easily accessible. Aruba, Domincan Replublic, Jamaica, St Lucia, and like every city in Mexico are just a few places that have direct flights from one fo the three major airports.
We have chosen to go the private villa route in St Lucia. There is a place on the island called Windjammer Landing that has all different types of rooms/villas though. There are two problems with choosing St Lucia though...There are only 3 direct flights per week and the flights are about $600.
Just thought I'd give you a little info on a different place. Oh, and if we hadn't gone with St Lucia, we would've chosen Aruba.

I was going to suggest St. Lucia also- it's amazing there are several choices that are memorable!
Windjammer is also switching over to all villas and suites- here is the info:
Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort Converts to Suites/Villas Only
Wed Sep 17 2008,
The Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort in St. Lucia has announced its conversion to a suites/villas only resort. In conjunction with the conversion, the resort has added 42 new suites. The Anthurium Lily junior suites with ocean views will be available beginning in December.
The 1,100-square-foot junior suites will all feature Romeo & Juliet balconies. Several will also have an additional private sundeck on the roof. In addition, the plantation-styled suites will boast four-post mahogany queen-size beds that will be draped with mosquito netting.
The resort's parent company, Elite Island Resorts, has retained Philippa Rouseau Design, an interior design group with resort property expertise in the US and Caribbean, for the new upscale suites' design.
"We are extremely pleased with the recent addition of our 12 new expansive Hibiscus Suites and have decided to convert Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort's Ocean View rooms to 42 Anthurium Lily Junior Suites," said Anthony Bowen, Windjammer Landing managing director. "Our property's upgrade to all suites and villas exemplifies the resort's commitment to provide the ultimate in luxury to our guests and to continue the resort's reputation as a premiere Caribbean vacation destination."
If you are doing an adult only wedding and what very easy I'd recommend Sandals either Dunnes River Villagio, Grande St. Lucian or Sandals Whitehouse. All three are located on amazing beaches, are all inclusive and have beautiful rooms!
Sandals also offers great group amenities for weddings!
