Was this is regard to ME asking how to earn more points and you misunderstanding and ranting about how I am not to ask for points??!! I feel a little branded.

I really don't understand how people are able to get hundreds of thousands of points and still go to work all day, cook dinner, clean house, do laundry, etc. I mean, I am on here posting and replying and telling all the new girls how wonderful their experiences are going to be... and meanwhile, I have like 100 points! Don't you see that I'm on here at 5AM? Some people are BUSY! I had no idea that downloads hurt the server, maybe THAT'S what you should have written in the first place.

And just so you know, no matter how many times I post a picture in my signature to earn points, it DOESN'T SHOW UP! I know I'm doing it right because I had it on there before... Everything on the knot works just fine... I cannot believe I joined a forum to get and share ideas and I'm winding up being paranoid about points?!

Now that I've completely wasted what might be my only free time of the day....

Hey 411bride

I completely understand what you mean, when I first joined I struggled to earn points but they will soon build up I guess when you are a noob you just want to open everything and see everyones ideas.
I'm sure the post wasn't aimed at you but at people who blatantly ask for points
If it makes you fel better I cant get my siggy to work either all my pics are too big and I am a techno phobe who does not know how to resize

I understand where you are coming from because it is difficult to accumulate points in the beginning BUT you just kind of "branded" yourself. That wasn't a very nice thing to say. Those of us that have a lot of points have been faithful posters and still cook, clean and live a normal life. Just keep posting and banking your points. In order to put a picture as your siggy, go to a hosting site such as Photobucket and then put the IMG code in. This site unlike Theknot.com is run by one person. It is just a site that she pays for and puts a lot of work into so that people like us can get all the info we need for our weddings to make them a beautiful event.

To reiterate what Kathi said. This is Tammy's site. She pays for it out of her own pocket, and runs it on her own time. It is from the kindness of her heart that we have this forum at all. It is, ultimately, HERS.

The genesis of this thread was not one individual person, but lots and lots of people who beg for points, or request that people e-mail them templates because they don't have enough points. There are numerous people on the forum who have complained about the barrage of these requests. THAT, I am sure, is what prompted this thread.

So, big thanks and hugs to Tammy! And for those of you who feel like you've been singled out, don't. It's all love... just within the guidelines that have been set up to keep things manageable.

Default Re: PSA: Points for Noobs

There have been so many posts lately started by someone new asking for points. The thread is also aimed towards active members so they understand why donating points hurts the forum. we used to give everyone that asked for points 1,000's. once I understood why that wasn't a good idea, i stopped.

there have been weeks where the forum ran so slow you could barely get on. each time this happens, tammy has to upgrade the server which means more money per month she pays for this.

I've been active on the knot too. over there if you want a boarding pass template you have to ask someone to email it to you. how time consuming is that? i also have so much trouble getting my siggy to work there. I'll get it up & then it will just dissapear at times.

everything I made, I posted on the forum. sometimes I spent more time putting my template together than making the thing I actually needed. everytime someone downloads something of mine, i get 50 points. that is one way some of us have a huge number of points.

if we didn't have points, the forum would be a mess. i also wouldn't be as willing to share my templates if anyone could just download them. I shared them because BDW members have been so helpful to me.

I think when you are new you are so excited to open documents-just remember to save the documents to your hard drive that way you are not using points to open again and again. Also remember that by posting you get points-you would be shocked how quickly the points add up.
I personally want to thank Tammy and all of her hard work for making such a great website!

Tammy did not call you out or "brand" you in any way. I am one of those people who have hundreds of thousands of points and trust me I still work all day, clean my house and generally have a life. If you don't appreciate this forum or what Tammy does and feel that you are wasting your time, you are more than welcome to leave.
