karma: 0 | Is a cocktail hour offered in any Riu package?
Does any Riu bride know what your guest do while you are taking photgraphs after the wedding ceremony? Is there a cocktail hour offered for the guests in any package during this time, or do they wait until the dinner portion of the reception? I hope someone can help me. Thanks ladies!

Thanks ladies! | While you're taking pics, you can have hor dourves served on the beach, which can be your cocktail hour. There are different menu's with different choices. I think the least expensive option was $10 per person.
I'll check to see if I still have the menu options saved.
We didn't go for this option, we just had rum punch & champagne served.
Ok, found the hor dourves menu. You may still want to check with Chandlyn about the prices. I've had this list since last year.

There may have been price changes since 2007.
I don't recall if any BDW brides had them served. You may have to check the Jamaica ROR wedding reviews.
In terms of whether or not you should serve them, for me, it was a catch 22. When we were planning, we decided not to have them because we figured that the time btwn the end of the ceremony & the start of dinner, would be kinda quick. Plus, we figured, why ruin a potentially great wedding dinner & have guests get full on hd's.
Now, looking back, I felt like it was a longggggggg wait btwn the end of the ceremony & dinner. Yes, we were busy with the photographer taking pics, but the guests were'nt involved in "our" pics. KNIM? Yes, we took group pics with family & friends, and yes, our guests got to take advantage of taking great pics as our photographer worked with us, but for some reason, I felt bad, as if they were bored.
When I ran this past my guests when we got back home, they all said that they were fine & weren't bored & did not need hor dourves. So knowing that made me feel better. Plus, everyone loved their meals at Mammee Bay.
What you can do is just make sure the guests are entertained. For instance, if you have music playing while you guys are taking pics, that helps. You can also "remind" them, that there will be about an hour to an hour & a half gap btwn the end of the ceremony & dinner. So maybe they should make sure that they have a nice filling lunch! That way, at least they won't be starved!! |

We had the #3 on the list of Horderves...all of it was really good and they are generous
only reason we did though is we only had about 12 ppl but for a larger group it can get pricey

I considered doing this because my wedding is at noon. This hour from 12-1 where we have our guests after the ceremony (with the steel drum band) is thier lunch hour basically. They obviously could eat before hand (and I hope no one runs late) or have a late lunch and risk being not hungry for the dinner...
Oh the options... :S
