Default Monster Truck/Outback Safari

My parents just came back from Puerto Plata and did this excursion and had a blast. I never pictured my parents doing something like this but they did and they said it was money well spent. The brochure they brought back highlights some of the excursion but here is the website in case anyone would like to take a look: Outback Safari Adventure Tour in Bavaro, Punta Cana and Puerto Plata - Dominican Republic

They operate in Punta Cana as well.

Oh, I also found this short video on youtube that shows you what its like:

How cool! It's always nice to see more than just the Resort when you go somewhere new! I am thinking we aren't going to have as many people we orginionally thought, so maybe with the $$ we save from not having to pay for their meals we can take our guests on this trip!

Thanks for the info!

I just have to say I went on the OUtback Safari tour in 2006 with a group of people in PP. I loved the trip it was fun, and exciting. Some of our group couldn't do half the tour as you climb up waterfalls, literaly. With water pouring down on you. I loved it. However I watched a news story about a 12 year old boy who died on the tour. He jumped into the water and never came back up. They found his body later. So be cautious.
Of course I couldn't find he story on line except this site, DAMAJAGUA WATERFALL WARNING

Hmm, my parents never mentioned a waterfall...I'll have to ask them. But that is a very tragic story!

We plan on doing the catamaran excursion. We did it in Samana (beautiful place, fyi!) in February & it was one of the best days of our lives (until the wedding of course!!)
FI really wants to the the Monster Truck thing though...so we are definitely looking into it.

When FI and I went to PP in March 07, we did the Tropical Sun Jeep Safari which took us to a small town and then to the Damajagua River to climb up 7 of the 28 waterfalls. it was really cool but the guides were not pay close enough attention when doing something like that. we also did 4-Wheel ATVs thru the Countryside, i would not recommend this tour. the ATV we had were not safe. the engine and brakes cut out on all of them and 1 died completely on the trip. If you plan on going on these tours off the resort i would make sure you buy the Medical Emergency Insurance from your TA.

you can see some of the tours your hotel offers by going on orbitz or cheapcaribbean.com. side note we booked our trip for PP thru cheapcaribbean and they say save 10% off the tours by purchasing them when you book the package but they were cheaper at the resort!?!
