SO, I haven't ordered my invites yet, mainly because I didn't know what information I needed to include because I haven't heard back from my WC until yesterday. Anyway, my wedding is Dec 13th, and the WC recommended that the RSVP date be Oct 1st. However, my invites may take between 1-3 weeks to print and deliver! SO that puts me at mailing them out the 3rd week in September. (assuming 3 weeks to print them)
Let's cut to the chase- how short is too short of time to have your guests RSVP? Or should I just push back the RSVP date to October 7th or 15th?

do you already have a good idea about who's coming? if so, and the invite is just a formality, then oct. 1 is fine. however, if you don't know who really is joining you, then i think you should push it back. if you mailed them sept 21, that would give them less than 2 weeks...

We mailed our invitations out in June and put the deadline August 15 to give people more time. We are still waiting for about 20 responses and the deadline has passed. I'm sure with having this much time people forget, so maybe having a shorter deadline would help. Do you already have an idea of who's coming/booked already? Did you send out save-the-dates?

We pretty much know who is coming by looking at who has booked. I have a handful of "maybes" as well.
Are you all sending invites to people you know aren't coming as well? I know there's some people who want one even though they're not coming. Is it tacky to send them to them?

Those were the people that responded the quickest aside from the people that already booked. It's the maybes, or we have no ideas that we are still waiting on.

Ok, yeah. They're tacky. But they're harmless :)
It's just a shower, it's not your wedding. If your wedding invites came out this way I'd go on the person who made them. But it's a shower...
I agree with everyone else. Pick your battles and what you're going to stress over. This isn't something you should get upset about.
Hope you can relax about it. There'll be plenty more issues to stress about before the big day, I promise!

We sent out wedding invites to everyone who we gave STD's to(that sounds funny...lol.) Even if they aren't going, we still gave them invites.
We're getting married on Oct.16th and I just mailed out our invites on Saturday. I think 4-6 weeks is standard, and if a STD has been sent so guests are aware of what you're planning, it should be fine....I could be wrong though! |

We were wondering the same thing. Our wedding is February 12 and we are thinking that our RSVP's should be mid-November or beginning of December.
