karma: 1 | Iron-On Transfer Material Pre-Req?
These are the OOT Bags I purchased for our group. I got them in ivory and I LOVE them!
I am wondering now though (of course) if anyone here has used these before AND put an iron-on transfer on them successfully?
I haven't tried yet...but...I was just wondering if the iron-on's had a fabric pre-requisite? Like...they don't only work on cotton/canvas right?
The material is Non Woven Polypropylene.
Reusable, environmentally friendly.
Tear resistant and water repellent.
Thanks ladies...you always have the answers...

karma: 1 | Re: Iron-On Transfer Material Pre-Req? Can you use iron-on transfers on environmently friendly bags (PolyPropylene) ? - Yahoo!7 Answers
A couple people on yahoo said they might melt if you try to do an iron on transfer. I didn't find anything that said that directly or not to iron them, but I did see that you can recycle these bags with regular grocery bags. Polypropylene is the same material used for clear packaging bags like candy and stuff and those melt with high heat applied...
I remember another bride posting her bags that melted. I'll try to find that thread and maybe she can say what material her bags were? I think it was different tho...
I really like that type of bag! I might look into them and just add a cute tag with our logo or something.

My best guess is that you can't do a transfer. Polypro usually melts and the transfers take high heat to do correctly.
Do you have one that you could try out and sacrifice if it melts? That would be my suggestion.
Alternatively, you could look into stenciling your image on - especially if its just one or two colors. You can find stencil material at Michaels that you can run thru a printer and then cut out.
Just be sure to use a waterproof fabric stencil paint - you don't want that stuff rubbing off on people's clothes when they walk to the beach with their fabulous bag.

you probably need to have a thin cloth between the bag and iron to avoid melting, but then your transfer likely wouldn't transfer over.
I think when I did rhinestones transfers I had to put a cloth between. Maybe you could find some cute little rhinestone designs? Not as good as having your logo but maybe better than nothing.

I love your bags too! Please let us know where you got them.
I don't think iron-on transfers would work, but not 100% sure. I like the idea of attaching a tag to them so they are still personalized.
Good Luck!

Thank you everyone for your help!
The bags were purchased from Creative Bag located in Toronto and they were cheap (imo)...$1.75 each (plus tax and shipping). My whole order including shipping and taxes (for 8 bags) was $19.24. The arrived in about 3 days.
I HAVE done up little "Thank You" tags for the shoulder strap, so I think what I might try to do for the side of the bag, is either bedazzle the sucker (but half of them are for single guys - which I think could be funny - but...) OR I was thinking of really trying my skills, doing a stencil outline, and handstitching a logo on (like needlepoint or something).
Crap...I should have thought of this before..but..I really like the bags, so I'll just work with what I have!
Thanks again!
