I thought it would be interesting to list the "typical" wedding traditions that you will not be doing at your DW.
*this post is not to offend anyone who chooses to incorporate traditions into your wedding. This is exactly what makes DW so great, is you can make it however you want.

* I will not be "given away".
* staying together the night before
* not pure white dress, accent of orange
* no official wedding party standing up
* Mayan or cosmic ceremony, but families are both Christian
* No dancing at reception
* Plan on doing older celtic traditions like hand binding and six pence in the shoe
* Trashing the dress :)
* No bouquet or garter toss
* Unique location; beach or cenote (still deciding)
* Tapas party when we get home
Boy there sure are a lot of these. |

*We will be staying together the night before, but not seeing each other after we get ready.
*No garter/bouquet toss-I might still wear one for fun.
*No pairing of the bridal party (3 of each)
for a dance or introductions.
*No flower girl/ring bearer. We will put a responsible adult in charge of the rings, probably in a sea shell.
*I'm not wearing a veil.
*I don't plan on doing Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue.
*No sand ceremony or unity candle-but maybe the Hand Ceremony.
*Not having a Catholic Church wedding (this is huge in my family)
*No dollar dance. Probably will have mother/son dance, but my parents have passed, so I'll need to think of something.
I'm sure there is more that I am missing. I'll be working on FI for a awhile I'm sure. He is still wrapping his mind around not wearing a tux and me being in a dress that isn't white, but ivory.

I am having BOTH my parents walk me down the aisle, and instead of a father/daughter only dance, I'm having a father/daughter then switching to mother/daughter dance at the same time as my FI and his mom dance. I never understood why mom's were left out? |

I think it would be quicker for me to list what we're doing that IS traditional instead of what isn't :)

i didn't wear a garter or throw my bouquet
there were no 'ceremonies' - sand, unity, etc.
no flower girl/ring bearer
no religious ceremony
no tux
both parents walked me down the aisle, but that's jewish tradition
uneven bridal party (3 bms, 2gm)
we weren't going to do the hora (jewish tradition), but a guest put me on a chair and told guys to lift me...but instead of doing it to the correct song, the dj was playing beastie boys 'sabatoge'.
i'm sure i'll think of more.

Hmm.. I have quite a few I think
*Not a church wedding (not religious ceremony)
*No something borrowed/blue etc
*Not wearing shoes
*No bouquet toss
*Not wearing a veil
*Uneven number of BM's and GM's
*No dancing at reception
*No flower girl/ring bearer
*We are spending the night together as per usual, and seeing each other in the morning (day of wedding)
*no tux
I'm sure there is more.. I will add on as I think of things.. heh
