Default How do I ask for travel vouchers to pay for our honeymoon?

As I have been sharing a home with my fiance for more than 3yrs now, we do not require a wedding gift list in the traditional format. We love travelling and seeing that our wedding is a travel theme, we didn't think our guests would mind contributing to the cost of the honeymoon as their gift in the form of travel vouchers. However, when we were designing the invitations we couldn't think of the right words to put to make this clear.
I want people to know that their gift to us is our honeymoon of a lifetime without them thinking it's a cheaky ask.
Help! how do I put this into words?

you shouldnt solicit gifts in any way on your invitations. you can list a gift registry page on your website though saying in lieu of a traditional gift registry, we've registered for travel vouchers at such and such place. it helps i think if people see exactly what the vouchers are going for, you know, in the kind of honeymoon registries that have the activities listed that the $ goes to.

but dont expect too much - unfortunately a lot of guests won't send a gift at all for a DW. we were shocked at the number of people who not only didnt give us a gift, but did not even give us a card congratulating us, yet had no problem drinking enough booze for 3 people each.

funny, maura, b/c we were actually surprised at the amount of people who came to the wedding that DID give a gift, but also shocked at how many people that didn't come didn't send anything. then again, i only had 30 ppl to your 100!
i agree about not writing it on the invites. while i personally wouldn't have done a honeymoon registry, it certainly doesn't belong on the actual invites.

Although the gift idea may seem a little radical to you guys, I am following a British etiquette with regard to the list. We were not going to have a list at all but this is regarded as rude in this country. Guests want to give a gift and appreciate some guidance as to what to give. (as in the old days, couples would end up with 100 toasters and non matching tableware!!?). Travel vouchers are on the increase over here albeit still quite new.
Your thoughts have been taken on board though, it's well received having an honest first impressional thought.

Thank you Tammy for your useful input and helpful links. I think this is definately something that I could attempt to introduce over here. I wonder if anyone has had problems with computer illiteracy though with this idea?

Thank you Maura
I wouldn't write the about the gift situation on the actual invitations but in my experience couples provide information about the gift list on a separate piece of paper that comes with the invitation. Your input is very valid though, guests would like to see what they are 'buying'.
By the way, your siggy pic is lovely, congratulations to you both

I don't see ANYTHING wrong with wanting travel vouchers. We're the same way. We own a house and have more than enough of what we need. Check out our website Bo and Andrea | January 7th, 2009 137 Days Until we Say "I Do"! and go to "Wishlist" This is how we "conquered it." I agree with the others about not putting gift info on invites though. :)

Excuse me if I seemed brash,as that was not my intention , but that was my first HONEST opinion. There are several ways that you can create a registry for your honeymoon, and then link it on your wedding page. Thats where our registry information can be found. Best wishes to you!
