Default A blessing ceremony after DW?

I was wondering if anyone has done or is doing some kind of marriage blessing or ring blessing ceremony when you get back from your DW?

We would like some kind of ceremony before our AHR. What are our options? Thanks, Carla

Will you already be legally married? I am not sure about before, but Matt and I are still going to be doing that at some point. He wants it blessed by the church. We had all of our rings blessed by the minister during the ceremony in JA though...

I seem to remember that you can get priests to bless items at church anyway, so perhaps if you called your church they could help you out.

Thanks for the post. We will be legally married at the time. We mostly want to do the blessing at home as we are thinking of having a Mayan wedding in Mexico. The blessing is mostly to appease both sides of our family who are from two different Christian backgrounds.

We are going to have the marriage blessed afterwards. We have both been married before so they have to be anulled first. This is what our church has advised us to do.

Does anyone know what you have to do to get the Catholic church to bless your marriage? We weren't going to do it but are now worried that they may not baptize our baby if our marriage isn't recognized by the church. Do we have to go to Pre-Cana and all of that stuff or is it just a simple ceremony?

Lizz - I am not 100% sure, but when Matt and I talked about it before, he said it was the whole pre-cana thing. I tried to call our church, but they never returned my call. So I decide to leave this up to him since he's the one that cares. But def post if you find out what it is!

They didn't tell us we had too. But they did tell us every church is different on their rules. And that if we didn't have the marriage blessed they still would baptize our child. But on the other hand I have a girlfriend that is in a different parish and the priest there will NOT baptize her son. Which is crazy!

I know! Not to get into a crazy religious discussion, but that's why I don't even care if we get our marriage blessed (because of all of the different rules & whatnot). But our moms feel so strongly about getting our baby baptized that I wanted to make an effort.

I'll call the church and let you know what I find out. The only problem is that I actually haven't joined the church since I moved to my new parish...uh oh!

I know what you mean. Don't get me started. Pauls uncle is a deacon, so no pressure there. Let me know what they say. You dont have to tell them exactly when you moved into the parish.

We're getting married in Bermuda. 2 weeks after we get back we're having our marriage blessed in the Catholic church my family belongs to and I made all of my sacraments. The FI and I have been together for 11 years and my mother is a sunday school teach and president of the parish council. We STILL have to do Pre-Cana. Now my uncle and his wife had there marriage blessed and didn't have to do it, but they had been together for 17 years and had 2 children. Its basically up to the priest on the subject, some are more old school and want the pre-cana, some are more laid back.
