AHR decorations...need rustic inspiration!

hey y'all!

so i had reconstructive nose surgery last thursday (my nose lacked cartilege, i had a flat septum, and i was missing my lower septum?...whatever was wrong, it was really wrong!), so i'm stuck in bed with wedding ideas running through my brain 24/7!

i'm stuck on ideas for reception decor for the AHR. it's going to be rustic and texas country (but not country music country...more like sunflowers and cowboy boots). we are saving old patron bottles (between my fam and the fiance's fam, we're doing pretty good!) both big and smaller to use as centerpieces. i also want to mix in galvanized vases somehow? i'm driving my mom crazy because i don't really want the same thing on each table. i really just want maybe 2-3 different looks that are spread out across the 20+ tables.

we're coming across a problem because the venue will not let us use votives, but we can use larger candles as long as they are "covered" (ex: using hurricane vases). i've been googling candle holders like crazy, but i cannot find anything rustic or anything reasonably priced....any ideas??! one idea i saw on the knot, is using ball jars (jelly jars) for candles...what do y'all think of that?

if you have any ideas, please share because i'm super bored in bed....

Leigh Miller posted a wedding she did photographed in Cali. It had the rustic theme going on. It was sooo beautiful. I will see if I can find that thread.

Nicole - I am going to email a friend of mine who is getting married this October for some pics. She is doing the same theme as you - country, but not country/country.

I know she is using blue pumpkins hollowed out with candles inside for her centerpieces, but I am not sure what that really looks like. Sounds cool though! I will let you know if I get any pictures or ideas back from her...

So here is my friends response, I didn't check any of the websites, cuz I am at work and you are bored and in bed, so I figured you woulnd't mind having to check them out!

"Tell her to go to brides.com and type in sunflowers brides did a fall spread and alot of the ideas were great for a rustic look. Also for candles she may want to look into Mason Jars as well as the jelly jars and these can be found at thrift stores ( especially the Care and Share her in Souderton ) I don't know where she lives but she should take a look at place that are more of a variety shop.

Also tell her to google satnspurs ( this is another website with lots of ides on the Western Theme ). They have pictures of cakes, centerpieces, attire. They also have good ideas for favors and other little trinkets for decorating.

Also there are flameless tealights that can be used in votives and that I believe are relatively inexpensive for her original idea. I saw them at Southern Living presentation. I think you can even them at a dollar store.

Of course old Root Beer Barrels and old wash tubs are great for decorating touches or small metal buckets make great centerpiece holders in pictures I have seen. ( for the more rustic look you would go with tarnished metal buckets the colored ones are easy to come by but they don't really acheive the rustic appearance that tarnished silver metal gives )

Recently, I have seen the use of fruit in centerpieces like green apples, limes, lemons, oranges, peaches etc. I have seen them used in various different ways but I like the ones that are displayed in glass jars which would go well with mason jars or jelly jars. In choosing flower perhaps simply add fall berries and wheat to your arrangements instead of other types of flowers or other greens.

the most important part of keeping the theme is really to find items that would be around the "farm" , house or kitchen that are readily available and can be made to look simply pretty."

Ok, my friend also just told me that the flameless tealight candles are in the LTD Commodoties Magazine winter issue $5.95 for 12. I have no idea what that magazine is, but I found it online - 12-Pc. LED Everlasting Tea Lights - LTD Commodities
