My dress may be ruined!

Well, I had my second fitting for my dress and all looked good but it was still a little long and needed taken in just a little more in the hips. Well, I went to pick it up on Saturday and I asked the seamstress if I needed to try it on again and she said no. So I took it home but was to busy to try it on until Tuesday. When I put it on I almost cried! The side seams of the chiffon layer over the skirt were crooked and puckered! There is some kind of pucker in the front also! She put a little bustle in the back for me except she used a white flower to hide the hook and my dress is ivory. What a moron. I don't know how she is going to be able to fix the seams. It feels like she cut to much material off and now it's not enough to go around my butt! What am I going to do? Should I make her take the chiffon off completely and refund my money? Should I make her buy the dress from me and then try to find another? I love that dress. It took me months to find the perfect one. I don't have much time left. I thought she was a reputable seamstress. She said she has been doing this for 35 years! I can't tell. My mom was a seamstress and she never would have sent a dress home with a customer looking the way this dress did. I wish she was here. She passed away in December and I miss her very much.

Sylvia,

Oh no!!! Ok, first things first - you need to go back and speak with the owner - that is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

2nd - can you post pictures - i am not really sure what you mean about the chiffon.

3rd - i am really sorry about your mom sad.gif

I would be completely pissed obviously! I second Alyssa. March back in there and tell her that you are VERY dis-pleased with what she did to the dress. There's a reason she didnt want you to try it on in the store. She was probably like "oh shit, hopefully she'll just take it home and not notice" I can only imagine how frustrating it must be sad.gif

I had a similar thing happen with a seamstress. She refunded my money but I realize you need the dress. Talk to her and tell her she needs to fix this. If she has to buy more chiffon with her own money and do it over then that's what she's going to have to do.

I'm sorry about you mom too.

OMG - I'd be freakin too...I'd take the dress back to the seamstress and ask her to explain why this happened and what she is going to do to fix it...I'd do it in person so she can't try to blow it off...

I'm sorry about your mom..I lost my mom 4 years ago and miss her everyday...

Oh you poor thing. How horrible of that woman. She knew when she sent the dress home with you that it wasn't right. I don't get some of these seamstresses. I swear it's like they don't care. But I do second the going to the owner and complaining. You trusted them to alter your dress and they didn't do it right. They messed up and should be held responsible. I'm sorry to hear about your mom I know it's tough not having her here for your special time. I hope everything goes well.

OMG that is horrible. Makes me wonder if that's why she sent you home without trying it on.

I'd bring that dress in there and demand that she fix it and refund your alterations costs. That is absurd that she screwed it up that bad.

First I am really sorry for your loss.

Second I would go back and talk to her since it the dress you love see what she can do if she does not feel she is able to demand for her to make it right. How long did it take for your dress to come in?

I agree with everyone else-I wonder though-was this just a lady out of her house? if so-then theres no one to complain to. Id try being really nice at first-but firm....then see what she will do! She should fix it-its ridiculous.

Sorry about your mom passing. I know she is with you and will be on your wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
