I have to agree that hot, humid weddings are no fun for guests in formal dress - we've been to two outdoor weddings in the past two weeks (in DC) and it was extremely uncomfortable - especially for the poor guys in suits. I'm guessing the humidity is probably worse in Mexico, but that said, everyone enjoyed themselves regardless. It's a wedding! It would definitely have been better if we could have come dressed for the heat - if your guests were prepared and able to dress coolly (no suits!), I don't think it would be too bad - that would have made our night! Maybe you can shade the area (which could help the rain contingency) and make sure there is plenty of water during the ceremony - always a plus. Any chance you can make a quick trip now, just to get an idea of the conditions? We're thinking of getting married in November (our anniversary is in July too, and I was really disappointed we couldn't do it then), and will probably make a trip to be sure it's not too muggy still.

I agree, if you want July then do July. Amy got some killer pictures in the rain that I don't think I've seen anyone else have, they are beautiful and unique. Of course make sure your venue has a covered area for rain and you'll be all good!

Also I think the reason LC doesn't have weddings in the rainy season may be partially due to transportation - you have to get there by open-air boat. I was on a boat like that in PV during a rain storm once and everyone was drenched (like dripping water) within 10 minutes! On land you don't have to worry about that so much :)

I also got married this past 4th of July, and it really poured. The thing that was weird is the day before was beautiful, the day of the wedding was nice up until about 4pm then the rain started and then the following day was nice. So you just never know what to expect. But I went into the wedding knowing that there would be a possibility of rain. If you have your heart set on getting married on the beach, I'd pick another month or pick an earlier ceremony time because it usually would rain in the evening. Good Luck

I don't really have anything new to add. I think everyone offered very valid points. For me personally I chose against a mid summer wedding for two main reasons......Hurricane season and the brutal heat and humidity. The last thing I want is to get all fixed up only to look like a drowned rat walking down the aisle, I do sweat easily though. But you have to think of the guests comfort too. As for the kids being out of school thing, I found that those of my friends invited who do have kids didn't want to bring them anyways.....they wanted to enjoy their vacation sans kids. It's really a matter of what's important to you. If the rainy season is the only thing that bothers you, make sure your hotel of choice has a contingency plan for inclement weather.
