Unhappy PV in July?

Hi everyone! I have a predicament and would really appreciate your input!!

I have my heart set on having my wedding next July @ Dreams in Puerto Vallarta (the date is me & my honey's 7 year anniversary). The old world charm of cobblestone streets and the beautiful beach is such a wonderful combination to me...

Lo and behold, after doing some research July appears to be the rainiest month out there. But, I found huge variances on weather websites in how much rain usually falls there during that timeframe. I talked to Diana the WC at Dreams and she pretty much said it was a coin toss as well. I really love the spirit of the city of PV but really don't want to risk the enjoyment of my guests and have to deal with a high possibility of having to move everything indoors at the last minute....

Does anybody have any experience with going to PV in July or have gotten married there during this time frame? Any experiences and/or suggestions you have are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

peace n love,
Kathy

Well, weather could be a gamble for all of us despite the month. I am getting married in January, and having a beach wedding/reception. We are definetely going to have a back-up plan in-case it rains. *I'm just going to think positive and cross my fingers, but I'm not too worried about it)* I know it can be more rainy in July than other months. Did you consider getting legally married on your 7 year anniversary, and then going to Mexico a few months later? Or are you wanting to do the entire thing while you're there? If you really have your heart set on July then I say go for it!

If you're set on July, you should do it. Just have a plan that incorporates rain (ceremony tent, indoor reception, etc.). I haven't been to PV in July, but was there last September, which is still considered the rainy season and it rained mostly in the evenings. But if you're like me, I love the rain no matter what.

However, I will say this, I am a Las Caletas bride and LC doesn't have anything planned until the first week of October. And both of the wedding planners take their time off during the slow rainy season. According to their calendar, they haven't had a wedding since July 3: Adventure Weddings in Puerto Vallarta - Wedding Calendar

Kathy-

I have a couple of friends that live in PV and this year it rained cats & dogs, took out a lot of roads and ruined some buildings. BUT here is what I think. Take the risk. It is your day and believe me I have been to a lot of weddings and no matter what the weather is like everyone has had an amazing time. Also you never know maybe it won't rain at all. Or maybe it will and it will make for some great memories. Remember July is really really hot though and asking guest to be out in the sun between 10am-3pm is a lot to ask for more than 30 minutes. July is known for a lot of people having heat strokes and much more in PV, so be careful.

Best
Kathy

We were considering having our wedding in PV in July so that family with kids could still make it. We decided against it because we it is supposed to be very hot and very rainy. I love the idea of doing the legal ceremony on your anniversary and the reception another time. In fact, I'm going to go home and see if the FI would go for that plan...

Well, this is my two pesos worth - when it rains here in July it's actually a RELIEF. I don't think the biggest issue is rain, so much as HEAT. It's very very hot and very very humid in July. Coming from Chicago, you are going to feel it more than if you were coming from Texas or Georgia. I would say that, more than likely, it WILL rain - the question is how much and when?

Just be aware that it's not a lot of fun for guests to be sitting in the hot, humid sun for even 10 minutes as they wait for you to come down the aisle. Then another 20 minutes or so for the ceremony. Everyone is hot, sweaty and thirsty. BUT if you have guests who are really adventurous and who don't care about things like that, then I don't think it's that big of a deal.

Here's a test .... pick a hot day in Chicago. Dress-up in something you would wear to a wedding. Take a chair and go sit out in the sun for 30 minutes. Just imagine that there is humidity so you're sticky and then see if you think it's okay. If you think it's doable go for it!! :):)

I am a Cali girl and the heat was bearable. Yes it was hot, I honestly believe it was hotter at my brother's San Diego wedding (also in July) than it was at mine. Although it did rain. Our ceremony was at 4pm and the cocktail hour started at 6:30pm..

Your on vacation, the sweat won't bother you too much, believe me.
