Smile Something Old...

For my birthday, my mom decided to send me something old....she is so cute!

She sent me a beaded hand bag that looks brand new that she got for her college graduation (60's). She also sent me a gold peso she had bought in Mexico in 1973 with my father and another couple (who will be at my wedding also). The date on the peso is my moms year of birth, 1945.

She had thought to put the peso in my shoe for the tradition of a penny in your shoe brings good luck (thought this was a great idea). However, she did tell me that in her wedding scrapbook (which I have) there are two pennies that my grandfather put in her shoes when she married my father (he said if 1 is good luck then two is great luck). He is long passed and was a very special part of my life, so I think I am going to use his pennies in my shoes.

So, long story short....my question is does anyone have experience putting a penny in a strappy shoe? I was not planning on wearing closed toed shoes but I would hate to lose his pennies?

I will carry the handbag and am going to put the gold peso in my bokay (she had it bezzled and made into a necklace for me)...she is soooo cute!

Can you tape the pennies to your shoe so they don't fall out?

That is a great something old! Your mom is too cute :)

I've never done it but I would agree with tape.

I wonder if you could put them in a thin piece of fabric and lightly stitch them in. The only worry I would have with tape is that with all the heat and walking/rubbing, that the tape would let go and it would be a shame to lose such special coins. Your mother is so thoughtful!

I put a bandaid over a sixpence in my daughters shoe for her wedding. She couldn't feel it.

I agree with trying to sew it in. It will be hot and if your feet sweat any, you don't want the tape to give out.

I like the bandaide idea....I would think it would be uncomfortble, maybe that will help. Might stick better than tape....I may have to practice!
