Default Traveling with the Wedding Gown

Hey Ladies,

I have a dilemma. I am leaving next Wednesday for ROR. We're flying on UsAir and I am dead set against packing my gown. I want to bring it on the plane, but we're not flying first class and I don't know if the flight attendant will be willing to hang it up somewhere. I contacted customer service at USAir and they gave me their line "you can bring it on the plane as long as it fits in the overhead cabin or slides under your seat." Has anyone figured out what they're going to do about their dress? And for those of you that have already been, what did you do? Does ROR have somewhere on the Resort where it can get pressed?

From what I have heard is everyone on board understands that the big bag is the "dress" and is very reasonable about not putting their items in the overhead (if you ahve to put it there due to FC restrictions). I would be there early and go to the CSA agent asking them if you can pre-board due to special circumstances and see what they say.

Honestly 98% of flight attendants will hang it in the closet it for you... if not, lay it on top of bags in the overhead bins. You can't guarantee people won't put their bags in them or they might have to do to not having enough room... so i suggest asking and then if you have to lay it on top of the bags.

Thanks! That makes me feel a lot better. I'm going to see if the flight attendant will hang it up. But worse case scenario, I'll just lay it in the overhead bin. And our flight leaves at 5:50 am, so I'm sure it won't be a full flight.

You should be fine. I used air jamaica and they were fine with hanging it up for me. You don't have to worry about it people will completely understand and should be more than helpful with your dress situation.

Enjoy your trip.

When we flew to Mexico for our wedding, we had no problem hanging my dress and Jay's suit in the closet on the plane. We just vacationed at ROR earlier this month. They do have a laundry service so I bet having the dress steamed and pressed will be no problem. I would give them a call to be sure. The resort is wonderful by the way. You are going to have a great time!

One of the girls posted on here it cost her $50 to get her dress steamed at ROR. One of the other girls said with the humidity she didnt even need to steam it, she just let it hang.

I just folded mine into thirds & put it in my carry-on, then hung it in the bathroom while I took a hot shower & it steamed itself rather nicely.

I saw LOTS of brides with theirs in garment bags, and I was glad I just stuffed mine. I guess it depends on how big & involved your dress is. Mine was relatively simple & didn't really wrinkle. Snapfish: Share Photo:Registration

Do airlines charge extra to bring on your dress? Especially if you have another carry on? And if they do, does anybody know how much?

I am flying out of Toronto on SkyService and I sent an email asking about the same issue.

They said I could carry it on. I will definetly ask if I can board early for special circumstances
