 | looking for advice: traveling with a giant dress Well, I went to salon #2 this weekend and had MUCH better luck! The dress that is standing out right now is Allure 8365. It felt so perfect!!
The only thing I am struggling with now is the size. It's HUGE! I was hoping from some advice from you ladies who had a successful beach wedding in a ballroom dress. Would you do it again? Is there any other advice you may have for me? I do have much more time to look, so finding something more travel-friend is an option.
Thank goodness I have you ladies to pester with my crazy questions! Thanks!!
OH, here's the dress. [sorry couldn't find any of the model standing...grrr!] |

 | Re: looking for advice: traveling with a giant dress honestly it is so huge you will be sweating and have such a hard time moving around.
if that is what you really want and you can suck up the uncomfortability then F it, it is your wedding day BUT if you want to be comfy and enjoy the day i say look for a lighter, more travel, beach and heat friendly dress :)

 | Re: looking for advice: traveling with a giant dress I have to agree with Alyssa and suggest you look for something you like equally as well that's a little lighter. You're going to be so warm in that dress - even in January.
It is gorgeous though!!!

 | Re: looking for advice: traveling with a giant dress I say go for it!!! I like that syle and it's your wedding and it's only one day in your life. Here in Ottawa where I live, it can get really hot in the summer - sometimes just as hot as in mx and brides still wear the big dress here so why not wear it in mexico too? |

 | Re: looking for advice: traveling with a giant dress My dress is big and poofy. I bought it when we were still planning our wedding at home so it fit perfect. I thought about buying a lighter, beach-y dress but decided against it, it just wouldn't be me. The dress I have just feels right when I put it on.
That being said, the other day I had it on for about 10 minutes (it was about 35 degrees out) and I was sweating like crazy! To combat the sweat, I plan on using Kiehl's deodarant (because it works great and is non irritating) anywhere I'll sweat - the back of my knees, under my boobs, etc. Plus, I have 5 BM's who know how hot the dress is so they're all going to be sure to keep handing me water to drink so I keep cool and don't get dehydrated. Also, our wedding isn't until 5pm so it's not like I'll be in it in the middle of the day.
If you love the dress, I say go for it. |

 | Re: looking for advice: traveling with a giant dress I agree that if you love it you should get it. I got a big dress (even tho I went looking for more beachy attire). When I put it on it was perfect and made me feel wonderful. Although it weighs a ton I couldn't pass it up. I can be hot for a day. |

 | Re: looking for advice: traveling with a giant dress Are you bringing your dress as a carry-on or packing it away in luggage?

 | Re: looking for advice: traveling with a giant dress Packing your dress in your luggage seems kind of scary that it could possibly not make it. I know I will be guarding mine with my life as a carry on. They can lose my swimsuit and shorts but if they lost my dress...
That's my opinion anyways. |
