El Dorado Royale Site Visit ~Jan. 2007

Recommended Posts

Just returned from Mexico and a pre-wedding visit to El Dorado Royale. Our daughter is getting married there 05/26/07. This forum has been so helpful, especially Tammy, that I thought I would share highlights

First, gorgeous property. Lobby, rooms, pool area, ocean, resturants, etc. everything was really pretty. Even the lowest price rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are huge. Each room has a patio, hammock and two chairs.

The atmosphere is wonderful. Being adult only the noise level is low. People having a good time, laughter, talking, ocean waves crashing (pretty windy when we were there) but no screams of "mommy watch me" around the pool! I love kids but they do change the atmosphere. The whole place is very romantic.

The food was far better than I had expected from an all-inclusive. Getting reservations at the dining rooms (I think 7 resturants on the property) proved to be a problem but booking ahead is the way to go.

Wedding coordinator was great. We expect 90-100 people so we are a pretty big destination wedding. They met with us for 4.5 hours, showed us all of the room choices, flowers, tour of the property and venues for welcome dinner and reception. They were great.

There is a lovely chapel beach front. It is airconditioned, a consideration in May, and it seats 100 persons. Lovely.

We are so excited now that the decisions have been made and so pleased that this site was available.

Having photographer Elizabeth Medina is an added bonus.

If anyone has any specific questions don't hesitate to ask. I have some pictures I can share if anyone wants them.

Thank you all for your helpful posts.

Julie

Hi Julie- so glad to hear everything was more than you expected! we're still debating the EDR and i was wondering what your daughter was doing for a reception/dance? we've been thinking about doing the cocktail hour and then want to have a dance afterward but haven't heard whether or not you can bring your own music and just rent their speaker system or whether you have to hire their DJ/dance floor ($1100-1500 for the dance floor setup and DJ depending on how many people you want to be able to fit on the dance floor). we would ideally love to just bring our own ipod and plug it into our own satellite stereo system rockon.gifif we could, but i haven't seen any posts as to whether this is even an option at EDR. does anyone else know if this is an option at EDR?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
