Did you use the same photographer for your engagement pictures, as well as your wedding?
I was thinking of going with a local Hawaii photographer for my wedding, and than a local Detroit photographer for my engagement pictures.
Im assuming that can get pricey though.

aw, you guys are really cute. I love that picture of you two. I know a lot of photographers have pretty reasonable engagement shoot rates. Mine is $300 for 2 hours of shooting...I am sure you can find something comparable to that in Detroit. Most wont list the engagement shoot pricing on their website...but if you email then they will email you an hourly rate or a rate they have specifically designed for engagment shoots.
hope this helps! Congrats and Best Wishes! |

There are some decent photographers in the detroit area. but if your able to make a trip to chicago their are a ton there that are great. So you might want to do some interent searching to find one you really like. I bet you can do it for cheap since engagement shoots aren't that expensive.

There is a possibility that your photographer will be cheaper if you are available to do your e-shoot during the week. For me its a huge relief to get someone asking about a Wednesday shoot instead of a Sunday.

I think it would probably be more cost effective to use 2 different photographers. I'm sure there are some great ones in the Detroit area. Downtown has so many photo opportunites!
You never know, you could really like your e-pics and be able to get a deal on the wedding photos if the photog will come with you. Mine came with us for the whole week for the cost of the trip. Granted it wasn't cheap, but now we have the entire week captured in high quality photos.

great idea about hitting up a better rate for a weekday shoot. My hourly rates vary from weekdays to weekends also...weekends are almost always taken up by other weddings or other engagement shoots.
I would ask your photographer if there is a difference in price. Evening shoots on weekdays can also be nice now that it's summer. If planned right you can get some great daylight shots and then some romantic sunset or low light photos taken as well... |

If I have destination clients within the surrounding states than I will offer an engagement session in my packages for them. Some photographers do this and some don't. For my wedding I have a separate photographer for my engagement session though I wish I would have stuck with the same.
