Is anyone having a DW with only the two of you? I am going crazy trying to figure out what I want to do and I am losing it! At first I wanted a DW with our closest friends/family ( about 20 guests) but it seemed that it was going to add up to about 10k....Not good since we are still planning on coming home and doing a church ceremony and a coctail and horsd'oeuvres reception. Nothing too big. When I realized that a DW was going to be on the expensive side, I thought about just having something at home and quashing the whole DW idea. I started to look at banquet halls and I hate the idea of having something of hat sort. I'm confused ladies . My FI really wants a DW even if it is only the two of us. I am wondering if anyone is doing something of that sort or if they know of anyoneo who has done that and how it played out? anyone have any advise/suggestions |

Well, I am having the big ol' DW in Mexico, we'll have about 70 people we think.
But, that won't be legal (no one will really know that though) - and we're going to legally get married in Hawaii on our honeymoon. So I guess I am kind of having 2 DWs! I think we'll probably just get married somewhere quiet - I am not sure of our options just yet in Hawaii, and then go out to a nice dinner, just the two of us. So maybe you could do something like that - make is special and private. A heck of a lot les stress and planning, that's for sure!

Yeah, I'm beggining to think that this whole wedding planning thing sucks!
Im not big on formal weddings but trying to figure out what is perfect for the two of us is quite hard!

Oh trust me, planning a DW is a PITA sometimes, this forum helps ALOT... I'm having about 10 people and were spending about 12k , BUT with that said, it includes EVERYTHING, rings, dress, resort, 8 nights in Cabo, flight, wedding dinner and WC. EVERYTHING. So considering, it's still much better then having a wedding in the states. And in all honesty if it were just the two of you and you still wanted the dress and stuff, I bet you would only save a couple of grand. IMO at least..

I am having somewhere between 14-22 people and it is much cheaper thanif i were to have a wedding here...
we were just going to do just the 2 of us but then decided to invite and see who comes...14-22 is not bad...
and yes planning a DW is PITA particularly b.c. I cant see these locations and restaurants that are recommended..so u do a lot of trusting and hoping!

There have been brides on this board who got married with just the 2 of them in Cabo. It seems kinda romantic if you ask me. Most of them had the dress and the judge and some bridal flowers and a photographer and that was the end of the wedding details.
It was important to me to have my family with us - we take a family vacation together every year and so this year everyone is heading to cabo. Yes it can be expencive but it doesn't have to be. At a DW there are no rules - you decided what you think is worth spending money on and what you can do with out.

I say if you are doing another wedding back home...go out there just the two of you and have a grand time! You can share memories when you get back and make new ones with the other ceremony!

When we were in Hawaii (big island) we went to the Four Seasons for dinner. Tell them it's your official wedding night. Even without this - we had the most special dinner - the staff was so attentive and the food was great (sorry - Hawaii just doesn't tend to have good food and we're big foodies) and the environment was very romantic.
The Four Seasons in Maui is awesome as well.
See if they will give you a private table on the beach.
(we went for pizza at Bronx pizza which we love here in SD after our private ceremony and it is one of my favorite memories yet, but still).

Here's a thought.
After our engagement party (I think we spent $500 on alcohol, $250 to have this crazy taco maker who is just awesome - like the "taco nazi" - San Diegans, if you want more info I'll forward, $250 to have a solo guitarist, and another $200 to rent tables and stuff) in our friend's beautiful back yard, we both said to each other, "That should have just been our wedding."
Any way you can surprise your friends and family and have a down-home backyard surpirse wedding with them (especially if you want to have your religous leader marry you although I don't know the rules if you're catholic). You just come out in the dress and he's in the suit. Wow - how romantic.
Before that, you could sneak away and get married just the two of you. I loved our wedding - honestly, it's the best wedding I've ever been to - but if budget was an issue for us - this kind of idea would have been SO special to me. I also love Leigh's drive thru wedding!
I think we spent two weeks planning the engagement party (max). I don't know what is driving your church ceremony, but it's a thought.

A lot of hotels and resorts do packages for just the two of you. I know my photog Juan Carlos has slideshows of weddings that he did for just the bride and groom and they are gorgeous. If I was getting married just the two of us I would have done it at the One & Only Palmilla or Las Ventanas. *Sigh* it sounds so romantic, I wish I were doing that. And Ann it's true the Four Seasons Maui is amazing you should def go there if you can for your honeymoon.
