 | Hacienda San Angel - Desperately seeking advice, feedback. Hello,
Last December I visited a sweet little chapel and fell in love with it because of its rustic beauty, but I'm having trouble finding anyone that has married there. The pics online are beautiful, but limited. I have a date on hold with them but if anyone has gotten married there or plan on getting married in the coming months and can share the following I would greatly appreciate it.
How did/are you getting your guests to/from ceremony site?
Did the church bells affect your ceremony?
Do they provide extra seating or decorations?
How are you decorating the church?
Where did you take your post ceremony pics?
Thank you.

Kisa | Kisa - what a cool name! Anyway, we're designing a wedding at the Hacienda in February. This is what I think...
1. You have two options to get your guests from the hacienda to the ceremony site - taxis or vans. I would highly recommend vans. Janice should be able to recommend (or handle) the transportation for you.
2. Re: the bells ... I was thinking and thinking and thinking when I ever hear the bells - but my hubby assures me that the bells ring every hour. So, I don't think they would interfere with your wedding - especially, for example, if the wedding is to "start" on an hour like 5 or 6 and the bells could be a great signal for everyone to take their seats - then you'd have your ceremony and you shouldn't have any more interruptions ... hmm - it might depend on WHEN (what day) your ceremony is ... I have to post this before I can check back on under your signature. Because I do know the bells ring more often for certain days (re: religious days).
3. I think the pews only seat up to 30-50 people? Janice told me that they normally have chairs that go in the back, behind the pews - but for our particular wedding, we're choosing to do just chiavari chairs (we have 100 people). I'm not sure how she does the pricing for those (in the case that you're doing pews and chairs). As far as extra decorating goes - I do believe that will depend on what you tell Janice you would like to do.
4. For the Feb wedding, we're doing chiavari chairs, covering the white cushions with a pretty purple-grey, and, I think we're going to do a rose petal aisle and rose arrangements going down the aisle. I'm choosing to not do flower arrangements in the front by the statutes for this particular couple - but we are going to put candle vases with crystal accents around the statues - we're flipping the chapel for the reception later, so the vases will look pretty in the light but also functional at night :).
5. I can't help with that last question!! Although, when I helped with a wedding one year where the couple got married at the church then went to Le Bistro for their reception, the couple took one of the trolleys with their wedding party and shot all over downtown on the way - around the arches, on the malecon, on the river walk. Was neat :). |

 | Re: Hacienda San Angel - Desperately seeking advice, feedback. Hi Kisa,
I'm marrying there in October, though I don't that I'm of much help to you as my FI and I are eloping. I'm working with a planner based in California and she is the one recommend the location to me. It's such beautiful location and the chapel is stunning. My wedding is in October, which is kind of late for you but I'll be sure to post picks and PM you when we return. Good luck! |

 | Re: Hacienda San Angel - Desperately seeking advice, feedback. Hi Kisa!
I am not of much help either, but I thought I might try. . .Ive stayed there once and it is pretty amazing. The bells ring often, but I really dont think it will affect your ceremony, in fact, it probably adds to the magic of it all!
Elizabeth Lloyd actually has a slideshow of a wedding done there and I thought that might help you, shes amazing and it shows some pretty good details. ELIZABETH LLOYD - Photographer (Its the wedding of Cameo & Ryan)
Good luck and enjoy!!! |

 | Re: Hacienda San Angel - Desperately seeking advice, feedback. Hi Kisa,
My boyfriend and I really want to get married at Hacienda San Angel. We're going to PV tomorrow for our scouting trip and we're staying at the Hacienda. We're meeting with the owner to discuss wedding details so I'll fill you in on everything when I get back.

 | Re: Hacienda San Angel - Desperately seeking advice, feedback. Quick, but hopefully helpful note -- I got married in PV in May (at Le Kliff Restaurant with events and guest accommodations at private villas). We stayed at Hacienda San Angel on one of our scouting trips in order to check it out for potential guest accommodations. Although the hotel itself is both beautiful and charming, we had a surprisingly negative experience with the owner (who was unexpectedly abrasive and actually insulting; treatment you do not expect at that level of hotel and price point!) We later were advised by local acquaintances and vendors that the owner is quite unpopular in the local community and a challenging employer and that run-ins with her are quite common. Needless to say, we did not recommend the hotel for accommodations for our wedding guests. Interestingly enough, we only later ran across some reviews of the hotel on popular travel sites like Fodors, Trip Advisor and Yahoo travel in which a bride relays a nightmare experience with the owner that culminated in her wedding being cancelled, deposit forfeited and legal wranglings. I was not surprised to read the story given how offended we were by the owner of the hotel. You may want to contact the couple who wrote the reviews on those travel site for insight about wedding experience and possibly how you can avoid similar problems . . . . Good luck! |

I have heard that the owner can be quite a handful, but am fortunate in the fact that my wedding planner has a professional and personal relationship with my wedding planner, so I think everything should go smoothly. It's an unfortunate thing because it's such a beautiful location. |
