Default TSA- What to know list

In the July Brides thread we were discussing if you can bring things like lighters, matches, cigs, etc. Maura asked me to create a thread with common info in it regarding these things and I decided to make a document with the most commonly asked about items that apply to us traveling brides. All of the info was taken directly from the TSA website, and is not airline specific, that is to say it's a broad umbrella covering ALL commercial air flights originating in the USA.

Enjoy!

PS the links won't work since i just copy/pasted the parts from the website. See TSA | Transportation Security Administration | U.S. Department of Homeland Security for more info :)

PS2 I looked everywhere on the website, as well as my own airline reference manual, and asking co-workers, for info regarding the amount of cigarrettes you can bring on your person/pack in a carry-on or checked bag and can find ZERO info saying it's OK or not. I believe this is a customs thing, and is airline specific if there are any restrictions, you'd need to call directly if you need to know this sort of thing.

ANY QQQ on items not covered, please ask and I will do my best to get you the info!

Just a reminder for Brides traveling, we just had a Bride and Groom that put their Cake cutting knife and server in their hand luggage. The knife got tossed obviously....

Put that in your checked luggage.

We're a photography company in the Turks and Caicos...we work with all of the resorts here. (It's a small island LOL)

I think there are a lot of brides that probably pack the knife set to keep it safe and forget the TSA rules. I could easily see myself doing it! I would hate for something that someone spent time and money picking out going into the bin.

Good idea Maura & Abbie!

My bags got searched and all of the personalized matches were tossed. (Way to waste $15!)

The amount of tabacco products you are allowed is a Customs question. I know that from Jamaica you are allowed to bring BACK 50 cigars (not Cuban) or 1 carton of cigarettes and 2 liters of alcohol.

CHeck out this website:
Jamaica Duty Free and Customs Restrictions
You click on a continent, then select a country. You then look up Customs and Duties to find out what you can bring into the country.
