 | Re: Looking for a Riviera Maya Adults only Wedding Hey Kelly! Our ceremony will be on the beach at 5pm and our reception will also be on the beach, at 7pm. The sun sets at 7:15 so we thought that would be perfect. We are using Elizabeth Medina to do our pictures. We booked our wedding and everything a year ago. Rules have changed now and they say 'no outside vendors'. Since we had already booked before this started, they are letting us use Elizabeth. I'm not sure what constitutes an outside vendor ?? We decided to use a mariachi band for the reception on the beach, but not until just recently, so we just used the hotel to get that. As far as penalties go, I'm not sure how that works. Maybe they will let people bring in vendors as long as they are not losing so much money (I have a feeling this is why they started this rule.). I'll be posting a report when I return......I leave in 17 days!!!! |

 | Re: Looking for a Riviera Maya Adults only Wedding I was at the Excellence Riviera Cancun from 5/17 - 5/24 for my wedding and the whole trip turned out perfectly! The resort was awesome, the food was good, the service for the most part was really good, the ground were nice, the beach was great, our room was great, and the wedding and photos couldn't have turned out any better! |

 | Re: Looking for a Riviera Maya Adults only Wedding I have been to the Secrets Capri and saw weddings take place when I was there and it was beautiful. I am going again next year for our honeymoon. Unfortunatly we couldnt get married there because we have to many children attending. I would highly reccommend Capri

 | Re: Looking for a Riviera Maya Adults only Wedding I am getting married at the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar. However, I just returned from a trip to the Adventura Spa Palace in May 2008. I highly recommend this resort. The grounds are beautiful, food is great, and service is excellent!!! I did not have a single complaint about my stay there. Unfortunately I have one guest who is under 18 (he will be 16 at the time of my wedding) and they would not make an exception. Otherwise my wedding DEFINITELY would have been held at the Adventura.
If you would like to see pictures of my trip let me know!
I have also heard great things about Secrets Capri. A good friend of mine went there last year for a wedding and she said it was amazing!
Good luck finding a resort!

 | Re: Looking for a Riviera Maya Adults only Wedding We are also working on booking an adults-only, AI property in the RM region, and from my research so far I have found the Secrets and Excellence resort lines to be the "most for the 4.5 star money", so to speak. I am struggling now with the fact that for the most part, adults-only AIs are rather expensive (ranging between 200-300pp per night!). I have even gone through 2 travel agencies, and have checked with all resorts and their groups bookings sections to see if I can get discounts, but the cheapest numbers are coming in around $220pp per night. With food, alcohol, fruits/juices, room service, and some activities included, this is really not a BAD deal - I had just hoped for something around $150 or so. But I don't think I can let go of the Secrets/Excellence lines -- their resorts both have no problems letting you bring in outside vendors, and their Silver and Gold level wedding packages (the 2 highest) both allow for a cocktail reception and a wedding dinner for up to 20 people...I have yet to find any other resorts that offer such great options in their wedding packages for under or around $3000. If anyone has heard of any, please let me know!
And good luck to you! :o) |

 | Re: Looking for a Riviera Maya Adults only Wedding I will be staying at the Grand because we wanted adult only as well.
But if families decide to come they can stay at the kid friendly hotels, but kids still can't come to the wedding.
I have heard nothing but great things about the Grand... but it will be pricey.

 | Re: Looking for a Riviera Maya Adults only Wedding I am getting married at Excellence Playa Mujeres. It is definitely on the expensive side but I figured that it is so nice and you get so much for the money that it will be worth it. Even though it is expensive, 5 people have booked for my December 2009 wedding and commented on how nice it was for the price.
I think it depends on your guest list and everyone's financial situation. I believe that this should be a consideration when choosing a location. If you have a lot of 30 something professionals on your list or DINK couples that may have a little surplus cash then a more expensive resort may be an ok choice for you However, if you have a lot of 20 somethings just getting started, people with kids, you are paying for parents, etc then it may be wiser to choose a resort that is less expensive. |
