Bianca,

I was skeptical too at first but we finally decided to go with Blue Bay. Because there's an awesome lounge we can marry in since we aren't doing the beach and because the wedding coordinator Cecilia does a phenomanol job answering questions.
I also read this review on tripadvisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g150812-d650492-r15010423-Blue_Bay_Grand_Esmeralda-Playa_del_Carmen_Yucatan_Peninsula.html and it made me feel better. I felt like I could relate to this woman and she even emailed me back. You know the saying for every good comment there are ten negative ones, so I usually take the negative ones with a grain of salt. I agree the beach at Blue Bay stinks but it's not like it's unsafe, just alot of seeweed, plus by the recent pics it looks like they're doing a great job of cleaning it up. I know my guests are going to be at the pool at the pool bar the whole time anyway. They'll want COMFORTABLE BEDS, and LIQUOR! hahahahha you can't beat the price they offer!

Thanks!
K 8ie,

you really only pay for what you get in the package. It's pretty straight forward, no substitutions allowed though and that's why I have my own wedding coordinator for this resort. Cecilia is the wc there and she's fantastic though!

I went to the resort a couple weeks ago and yes, it is pretty nice! I met with Candy, whom works with Cecilia and she was pretty good. There were a few things she didn't know and would check with Cecilia, but the location is great! The only thing that I didn't like is the fact that the beach area is not private (most resorts there are like that, Paradisus is the only one with a private beach). There is a lounge area around one of the restaurants that is pretty modern and looks great for a cocktail hour. The rooms are pretty nice and the swim-up rooms are great!

I am actually about to sign my contract with BlueBay Grand - I have not done a site visit, but loved the photos and feel its affordability cannot be beat. I have had a rough time with Candy, however, the wedding coordinator there. Cecilia was the first to contact me, but then ever since I have been *trying* to communicate with Candy.

I would love to talk with more brides who will be getting married at BlueBay or anyone who has done a site visit here. Also, Pribrzl, do you have pics from your site visit you could share?

SoontobeMHeikkinen, it looks like you changed hotels from the BlueBay to Barcelo, was there a particular reason why?

Hey Claudette,

I live in Baltimore, MD and to get an idea of what the beach looked like I asked someone that had been to BlueBay to compare the beach to Atlantic City and their response was that it was the same if not worse. That bothered me because people don't got to AC for the beach they go to gamble. I saw a photo where you couldn't see their feet at 1 ft in the water. I was hoping they would have it cleaned up in time for our wedding in May but didn't want to take the chance. We have family traveling for the first time out of the states and didn't want them to be disappointed. Other than that I really loved the hotel and Cecilia was great! I even told my fiance I wouldn't mind going there to honeymoon. If your guests aren't really beachy people then I'd definitely say go for it!
