 | Playa Del Carmen Area - Off the beaten path.. I am in love with the Playa Del Carmen area but the more we look the more I think we want to get off the beaten path for the ceremony.
It seems so much of the beach areas are full of resorts and condos. I think we want a more "back to nature" feel for the ceremony.
Since I can only remember populated areas any suggestions for a quiet beach or jungle area near the Playa Del Carmen? Or even a hotel with more of the natural feel? Thanks, Carla |

 | Re: Playa Del Carmen Area - Off the beaten path.. Sounds like you'd be interested in Tulum. I was married at Dreams Tulum which everyone on trip advisor says is not the "real" tulum. Aside from Dreams, Tulum is a bunch of small not all inclusive hotels and the beaches are amazing (unlike at Dreams tulum which unfortunately had a crappy beach )
But Tulum is about 45 minutes from Playa del Carmen (1h 30 - 1h45 mins from Cancun) so maybe that's too far for you. |

 | Re: Playa Del Carmen Area - Off the beaten path.. I agree Tulum seems like the place for you.
I have never been so no first hand advice here, but we are planning a vacation next year at Dreams Tulum and we picked Dreams Tulum for exactly all the reasons you have stated. |

 | Re: Playa Del Carmen Area - Off the beaten path.. Oh! My TTD pictures are from the city of Tulum... beautiful!!!! Gorgeous actually!
But, if you aren't willing to go that far... what about Akumal? I still think it's slightly past Xcaret, but it's also a cute little town with a lot of delicious restaurants! |

There is only a few hotels in PlayaCar but the beaches there are all not so pretty and erosion is taking over. Xcaret has no beach, all rocky.
You may want to consider resorts North of Playa del Carmen. Do you have a wedding coordinator? That would be a HUGE start, especially dealing with all these hotels that are 100% slammed right now due to high season and with slow turn around time to email requests.
Also, there is a private beach in PlayaCar, Phase 1 that we shoot weddings at.

Those weddings were on that beach, receptions would have to take place in Playa somewhere or wherever you decide. In the background 1/4 mile away is a pier for the ferry to Cozumel, just to get an idea...
hope that helps :)

 | Re: Playa Del Carmen Area - Off the beaten path.. Just north of Playa is a beach called Xcalacoco. It's just 10 minutes away from town and much quieter, mas tranquilo. On this beach are some small hotels,
Le Reve - Le Reve
The Tides - The Tides Riviera Maya Resort, a Luxury Playa Del Carmen Resort & Spa
Petit LaFitte - Petit Lafitte - family vacation hotel in Playa del Carmen
There is also a rustic restaurant called Coco's. All of these have a beautiful beach for a wedding. Not such a great beach for swimming because it's rocky, but not crowded and super close to town. I think they would be happy to arrange a wedding there for you.
We fell in love with this beach, we just bought a house there :)

 | Re: Playa Del Carmen Area - Off the beaten path.. We are staying at the Royal, but we're having our wedding at another hotel, Las Palapas. I have never actually been there, but it is in Playa del Carmen, but seems more "rustic" (not sure thats the right word I want to use, but)
anyways, heres the link: Hotel Las Palapas, beachfront hotel Playa del Carmen, welcome. |

 | Re: Playa Del Carmen Area - Off the beaten path.. IF you are thinking about Tulum you should also consider Ana y Jose, is a small hotel with I belive one of the most beautiful beaches... is not crowded, its has lots of beach space. Its by far one of my favorites places...
