 | Legal Wedding in Hawaii - on our HONEYMOON! (shhh!) So Paul and I are having our wedding ceremony and reception in Mexico - but we're going to make it legal on our honeymoon in Hawaii, not sure what island though (this is a secret to most people - so shhhhhhh! - lol). We were just wondering if there's anything special we need to do to get legally married in Hawaii; I can't imagine it's much different than any other state - but we wanted to check. This thread >> Marriage License Info (maui) makes it sound pretty easy. I was divorced in 2003 (that's when it was legal anyway), so not sure what complications that adds - doesn't seem like much.
We're thinking of having a little ceremony and then a romantic dinner, just the two of us. I am assuming that where ever we stay in Hawaii will help us coordinate that, even though we're not having a big celebration or dinner - anyone know if that will be a problem? I just picture a WC not wanting to waste their time with just the 2 of us! Or maybe we have to do it at a courthouse? We'd just like to walk in, get married, and walk away Mr. & Mrs.!
We'd also like to have a photographer capture our secret ceremony - but I can't imagine needing one for more than about 30-60 minutes. Just our ceremony, and then some shots of us as a couple, something like that.
Any tips for us? Share ideas, "gotchas," or anything else you think I should consider! |

 | Re: Legal Wedding in Hawaii - on our HONEYMOON! (shhh!) Ann I think that will be so romantic. I think a lot of resorts offer small weddings. I know that I seem like a crazy lady, but I really researched a lot about Hawaii because when I lived on the west coast we wanted to get married there...so I actually have a book on Weddings in Hawaii written by a wedding planner there, let me look at it and see what I can find. My cousin also got married there so I can ask her (her husband was divorced, so I can see if that was a problem, but I believe as long as your bring proof of your divorce being final you should be fine)

 | Re: Legal Wedding in Hawaii - on our HONEYMOON! (shhh!) hey ann, another bride on here (tara-blonde) had her wedding in cabo then legally got married in hawaii...she is in africa right now but she would have a bunch of info and how to deal with the legal stuff.
but honestly, most likely the resort will be able to help you even if it is just the 2 of you. my gf got married in hawaii with just the 2 of them..
also, ask sherri.
but since it is the US it should be very easy. |

 | Re: Legal Wedding in Hawaii - on our HONEYMOON! (shhh!) c'mon along!!
i assumed it wouldn't be too much of a hassle, and this is really paul's thing to plan - but i wanted to see if there were any obvious "gotchas" you ladies knew of. i'll probably be asking for Hawaii tips eventually ... or you may see paul on this site (yea right!) |

 | Re: Legal Wedding in Hawaii - on our HONEYMOON! (shhh!) Ann I wish I knew about the legalities in Hawaii but I actually don't. I can't imagine that it is too complicated but if you want to be certain for sure get a calling card and call up the courts there to see what they say. I feel like this is going to be so romantic. And you guys should def take Leigh with you to do the pics. It will be awesome. Either way, post pics of both weddings.

 | Re: Legal Wedding in Hawaii - on our HONEYMOON! (shhh!) **whispering** that is romantic…depending on your budget i like the idea of having a small wedding with just the 2 of you...check out gohwaii.com for WC...I know in oahu there are tons of WC with packages for just the 2 of you starting at 99 dollars…..packages include minister, processing of marriage license, photo...u can add extra for limo..now this is what i know for oahu....
I am using A Hawaii Wedding - Premier Hawaiian Weddings. not sure if they do them on another island besides oahau..but I can ask when I talk to them tonight..
You want maui?

 | Re: Legal Wedding in Hawaii - on our HONEYMOON! (shhh!) Thanks for the tip - I will check them out. I just put this under Maui because there wasn't a general "Hawaii" place. I don't know where we're planning on going yet, I am really trying to leave that all up to Paul. But I couldn't help but pose a question here! I am going to pass him all of the information you ladies (ahem, and men) share with me on to him. I've told him to give Tammy a call too! |

Ann started this thread in January 2007! She has been married for over a year and now has a baby - please pay attention to the last post on a thread before responding.
Thanks! :)
