January 2009 Brides Post Here

Recommended Posts

I didn't see a thread like this, so I figured I'd start one.

Just wondering where we all are with our planning?

I've got the resort and the ceremony booked

Sent out STD and a follow up post card

Just sent in the contract to get a block of rooms

Ordered my dress, going to look at BM dresses next week

My biggest concern is invitations...when are you sending them out? I almost feel like I should send them out soon or not at all. If I wait to send them out, isn't it basically a waste since the people who are coming will have already booked? What do you think?

I am also a January 2009 bride and I actually sent out my invites with all of the travel information recently. I felt like it was kind of a waste to send travel info out now and then invites out 6 weeks before the wedding because by that time people have already decided if they are or are not going. We also have a website that we're posting any updates on and I also have info about the resort and cabo activities and other info on the website.

I am trying to stay up on planning because I tend to be a procrastinator, I have my dress, MOH dress, I am convincing fiance to look for what he and BM are wearing because soon the summer clothing season will be over, believe it or not! I have ideas of how I want my hair, flowers, cake, etc. The TA is taking care of booking guest and relaying information to them about the travel end of it.

Hi everyone,

FI and I are waiting for all the tour package prices to come out before we can book our resort and wedding date. We should hopefully have this done in the next few weeks.

I have sent out our STD boarding passes, got our website up and running, and ordered my dress.

We've got our wedding party selected, but I'm worried my MOH (also my sister) may drop out due to lack of funds. And knowing her, she'll wait until the last minute to tell me after soliciting everyone she knows for money.

Ugh.

I probably won't send out the invites until September. That way, people can book early and get a discount, or can still wait until last minute to book.

Hi girls! My name is Kelly and I am getting married January 10, 2009. I asked my TA (also doing my planning) about invites because I felt like sending them 8 weeks before the wedding was silly because most people would have booked already. She said she likes to send them out anyway because sometimes people's finances have changed or they are procrastinators and its a nice reminder for them. I think I'm going to send them a little early tho- probably in September.

As for everything else- I have my dress. It needs alterations tho. I have asked my MOH, but not my BM yet to be in the wedding. Note to self- call FSIL. lol My fiance still hasn't decided on a BM or GM yet. He's a definite procrastinator. Our STD's are going out this week. Our invites are being printed and should be here soon. So, we have some things done and lots of others still on the list...

p.s.- I love my STD's and invites. I got them at Unique Wedding Invitations Artist * Beach Wedding Invitations, Modern Wedding Invitations. Great quality compared to lots of other samples I got online. I would post a pic here, but have no idea how to put it in a post.

I will be in Mexico when you are getting married! We are going the 5th and our wedding is on the 10th. Barcelo Maya looks like a nice resort. We are getting married at Paradisus Riviera Cancun.

Curious: How many people is everyone inviting?

Very COOL! We're staying January 4 thru the 11th. Maybe I'll bump into ya, hehe. ATM we have 10 rooms booked for sure, and 2-3 more possibles. We'll have about 20-24 guests. That has actually been the trickiest part. I did a post about ppl inviting themselves :/ We had to nip that right in the butt, and make it clear it was only family and close friends. How many guests will you have?

I'm getting married on Jan19th and I think I'm on par with all you girls so far. I sent out my STD's a bit hastily as we ended up changing the date....OOOPS...but we have 85% of our guests booked so far(some stragglers will book last minute), and I am also not sure if invitations are necessary because we have a website too with all the same info on it. Just ordered and paid for my dress today...Photog is booked...I think my next step will be organizing BM gifts and giving some though to gift bags...I have been shopping like a madwoman lately trying to get some dresses/nice summer outfits for the wedding/honeymoon because in the fall the picking will be slim....So far so good....for now! crap sorry about the dress pic....forgot to turn that option off....

We are inviting 42 ppl... I know 16 are planning to come. The rest are up in the air. I figure it'll be a nice surprise if they come, but I'm not holding my breath. My FI wanted to invite a lot of our friends knowing they probably can't come just so he doesn't have to listen to them say they weren't invited. Wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but figured I'd just do what he wanted so he has to give in to me on other things. wink.gif Watch, with my luck they'll all end up coming!

I'm excited to get into some of the details with the resort like flowers and table decor and stuff.

We are getting married Monday January 5th at ROR.

So far we have sent STDs, started working with a TA, ordered my dress, ordered BM dresses, and purchases the guys wear. We have our wedding date booked and I have requested the reception locations I want. I also have ordered my flowers from AA.

We just finished our invites and will be sending them out this week so that our guests have the TA info and can start booking their trips. We were going to wait... but with prices the way they are... we want to get info out ASAP.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
