Thanks girls, I've given up on the photo package (I dont really care, we have two friends who take great pics) and the cake (after reading the "what I would and wouldn't do again" thread, it doesn't seem like I need a big cake anyways), but I am battling my WC on the flowers. If we do not agree on the flowers soon, I will take your advice Nicole and change my package. At this point I would prefer not to make too many changes, so I think we can work the flowers out. I will keep you updated, thanks for the support and the advice. Quote:

We are having our reception until 10 and then going to andromeda disco when it opens at 10:30.

Hi Ladies,
I am going with the free civil package. (I have 22 people coming).
We are getting the large cake.
I am bringing my own silk flowers- the woman here in Buffalo did a great job! One calla lily for each BM, a bouquet of hydrangeas, lilies and orchids for me. Only the groom will get a boutonniere. I will bring them in a carry-on duffle bag. The cool thing about them to is that they don't really smoosh... if they do, a little fluffing and they'll go right back to the shape they were in.
I am getting the horse and carriage ride for me and my Dad to arrive at the ceremony in.
We are getting photography A for $280 which includes 36- 4x6 pictures, one 6x8 picture and an album. We don't know how this works, but we were thinking of buying the cd of photography as long as it has every single picture he takes on there (meaning more than 36).
We are getting the free cocktail hour because our guests booked 10 rooms, so I have to find out what that entails. Anyone know?
We are most likely having our free wedding dinner at the Los Caporales. (Anyone know anything about it there?) I think it was Dez that told me she thinks they put you off to the side, so you are away from other people.
So, that's my wedding there. I am having a reception in Buffalo, so that's why we chose to go this route.
I would love any comments or suggestions!
Thanks,
Melissa

Hi Melissa,
I was told the cocktail party consists of high tables and chairs, your choice of appetizers (from their list), location of your choice (from their list), and drinks for 1 hour. If you want music, you will have to purchase the sound system package which I believe is $204. Anything that you have purchased for your wedding i.e. flowers will be moved to the location for you. If you have a cake, it will begin at your ceremony and will be moved to your dinner location unless you specify wanting it at the cocktail. Our WC suggested, due to the heat, we should just have it moved to our dinner locale. We are having our ceremony at the Chapel gazebo and the cocktail party in the chapel garden right after the ceremony and before the dinner - the chapel area is absolutely stunning!
Dinner.....you will be some what seperated from the rest of the restaurant. If you are having 20+ people Los Caporales will not work - they say only up to 10 people. I have the restaurant listing and amount of people you are allowed to have at each if you are interested.
I have recently received a bunch of information from the resort if anyone is interested in more details.
Take care.

I would love some more information if you do not mind. I am having 25-30 people and would love some ideas from you. Also, since you are getting married in July are you at all worried about the heat? Are you having your reception outside?

I have been to Cancun 3 times in July. Heat, no worries.....June, July, August, rain....maybe. I am having my ceremony at 5pm....most of the heat and rain have passed by then. If it rains, though, all weddings have an immediate inside backup.
We are not having a reception outside - Pookie can probably tell you more about that.
Here is our timeline....
Ceremony 5-5:30 - Chapel Gazebo
Pictures 5:30 -6:00
Cocktail 5:30 - 7:00 - Chapel Garden
Dinner 7:30 - ?? Barracuda (Steak house)
After ?? probably go to main lobby bar and then disco - if we are not smashed by then :o)
the restaurants available for parties of greater than 10 are: Nizuc Side
El Manglar (this is buffet though)
Arrecifes (buffet)
Palapa Delfines (buffet) no more than 25 pax
Palapa Pelicanos (Buffet) no more than 25 pax Sunrise
La Gondola (buffet) but have seen wedding parties there before
Bugambilias (buffet)
Palapa Fragata (buffet)
Palapa Barracuda
Based on this information - the only restaurant that served greater than 10 people for the included dinner were buffet except for the Barracuda. I could not see getting up in a wedding gown and serving myself (at least not in a public forum). If you do not mind doing this, your options are wide open. Also, if you are having the dinner on a different time - your options are open.
If you are having a private function $400 for table of 10 - then you do not have anything to worry about.
DJ Packages vary from $204 - and up
What else would you like to know :o)

you are so great! So-the private function $400-what does this include? We are having 25-30. Also-the DJ what is the deal with that? We are thinking about getting married in May.
I keep hearing about the different sides of the resort-which is better?

I just pulled out my paperwork -
Private dinner function:
$400 per table of 10
includes standard white decor - (tablecloth, folding chairs, and napkins)
includes function space, menu, 2 hours open bar
buffet and plated dinner require a min of 20 people (So minimum of $800)
plated indoor only
additional hours of service $60 per table
They also say that private functions have to be reserved at least 60 days prior.
Other fees apply to any centerpeice, flower, audiovisual, DJ, live music, special, decor, etc.
The DJ paperwork I received -goes basic, sound system only and your music $204 all the way to DJ and sound system and lighting for 4 hours $1,050 - it looks like they all include set-up and take down.
As far as the cocktail party goes - it is $400 10-20 people $600 21 - 30 people and goes up $200 increments from there. 1 hour cocktails including appetizers and additional hours are 50% off of 1st hour.

Also, most members if not all are put on the Sunrise side. The big pool is on the Sunrise side as well along with salon. The sunrise side also has a lot of fun activites. The last time I was there they had moved the big Spa to the golf course - the Spa is gorgeous! As far as preference, I like the Sunrise side better, but everyone has their own preferences.
