HELP!!! I want to elope!

When my FI took me to Cinderella's castle and gave me the ring of my dreams I thought that it was the beginig to all my dreams coming true. In fact I was confident that our wedding would seem like a fairytale. Unfortunately it has been a nightmare! Planning our wedding has been horrible. Since we announced to our friends and family we had decided on a destination wedding we have gotten so much flack. In fact between our family and friend and the lack of assistance from the WC, the whole wedding thing just isn't what I want any more. It has been so stressful trying to make every one happy and attmpting to plan the wedding. It feels like the whole thing is for every one else now, not about my FI and me.
So we are really wanting to elope. I still want my special wedding day with the whole dress and ceremony and cake thing, but I want it to be all about us. I think I want to dump everything I have started and pick a whole new place. So I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!
I want to go somewhere tropical to an all inclusive resort that has an amazing beach and lush gardens and updated luxurious rooms. I want to be able to relax but if I want to do an activity or excursion I can. I want to be able to have my wedding ceremony at the resort. I want something simple but something I will remember for the rest of my life. I would like to have private ceremony on the beach and then have a private candel light dinner and cake with my husband. Is that too much to ask? So if you know any place that would accomidate us please let me know!

I see you have your wedding location listed as Dreams Cancun, cant you do it all there just alone? We are doing a private dinner the night before our guests arrive so I know they do that. You said the WC has not been much help, unfortunately they get hundreds of emails daily and not too much time to answer them. If you have questions you can ask us here. As you get closer to your big day from what I hear the WC's get back to you a lot quicker. I hope everything turns out ok and you both can enjoy YOUR day!

I did consider still having our wedding there, but with the whole lack of consistant communication I was debating giving Dreams Cancun up. I totally understand the WC are really busy with the hundreds of emails they get and coordinating the weddings they have each day, but I don't really want to wait a month to hear from the WC. As you know it is stressful enough to plan a wedding but even more stressful when you are thousands of miles away from the person planning your wedding.

unfortunately a lot of destination wc's are so busy that a lot of brides don't hear a lot from them prior to the actual wedding week when they have an in person meeting with them. i've read multiple stories about this on the forum. there are some who are very upfront and easy to get ahold of, i hope you can find one like that.

Thanks for the encouragement. When I say my communication with the WC is inconsistent I don't mean just in the time spand I hear from her. I have been told one thing and then the next time I hear from her I am told something else. I have sent the Q&A form twice and she tells me she has it and can start the contract and then several weeks, emails and phone calls later she doesn't have it and tells me to send it again. I totally understand about the whole waiting to plan the details thing but when it comes to the contract and the inconsistency there it makes me nervous. And I have read a bunch of forums of ladies who had their wedding there and they loved it, but I think I am just frustrated at the whole wedding situation and want to just start over. Plus the main reason we chose DC was to best accomidate our guest and the wedding we originally plan to have, now that it is just us I don't know if I want to go there any more.

You just described Sandals Grande St. Lucia! Amazing beach- that's large enough for privacy for your wedding, incredible lush island with a rainforest and lots of activities both water based and land based if you'd like, amazing private dinner to celebrate and the rooms are updated and wonderful!

I felt like that at first when we began planning. It was with Dreams PV instead. The WC was horrible. I would wait weeks for a response and then I would get one and she didn't even answer my stinking questions. It was so stressful because I was trying to decide if this was the place for us- not trying to plan small details like flowers and the cake.

I finally ditched them and went to Las Caletas PV. Best decision we made! It was a total 180 from all the stress I put up with before. I really can't recommend many resorts- I don't know a thing about them, so I hope some one can help you.

As for flack from the guests, is it all guests? Or is it a few that's making you feel bad? We had a few that complained, but at some point we just decided to ignore all negative comments and do what we wanted to do. We ended up having 20 guests that really wanted to be there and it was perfect! They were all so supportive and excited.

I was originally going to get married at Dreams Punta Cana but changed to Paradisus Palma Real because it was taking the wc weeks to get back to me. It was just stressing me out too much. But the palma real does have all of the things you listed above, the private dinner on the beach, beach ceremony, etc. I think all of the paradisus resort have all these things so you might want to check them out. if you need any info on the palma real pm me, i have pics, wedding package options, menus for private beach dinner, etc. goodluck

Did you hear yourself when you said trying to "MAKE EVERYONE ELSE HAPPY" let's not forget that it is your day. What makes you happy not just your friends and family!!!
