 | Thinking about Honeymoon @ Sandals Montego Bay I am getting married at ROR April 2009 and we are thinking about going to Sandals Montego Bay for our honeymoon. We didnt want to make a long trek to get to another resort and then make another long trek back to the airport when we fly home....
Has anyone recently been there? Would you recommend it?! We are just looking for a place to relax in the sun, enjoy ourselves..not too much into the partying scene. I have heard many complaints about the noises from the airport though..
Just curious to see what people have to say about this resort and area! Thanks |

 | Re: I am getting married at ROR April 2009 and we are thinking about going to Sandals Welcome!
You actually have two choices for Montego Bay Sandals resorts! I was recently at both of them. Montego Bay has the better beach of the two but is more of a party scene- although there are plenty of quiet spots on property to get away! The airplanes tend to be forgotten quickly- at least it apperas that way because this resort has the most returning guest year after year!
Sandals Royal Caribbean tends to be quieter (both in terms of airplane noise and ambiance) but the beaches aren't as nice- they are scallopped and so divy the beach area up into many little sections. If you'd like my assistance booking either resort just Pm me for more information!

 | Re: I am getting married at ROR April 2009 and we are thinking about going to Sandals I stayed there about 5 years ago, so it's been a little while. I had a great time, but each Sandals seems to have it's own flavor. I think it is one of the older Sandals on the Island. We even visited Sandals Royal Carb for dinner one night. We went in Nov just after Thanksgiving for my birthday and were upgraded from the lowest level room to an Ocean View one...it was pretty cool.
As for the airport noise...I really didn't find it to be a problem. I did notice it once and a while while I was laying on the beach, but all it made me think was "how sad...they are going home...well at least I'm still here"
I got my SCUBA cert while I was there, so I spent allot of time reading my instruction manual on the beach in a lounge chair with a frosty drink....the best way to study!!

 | Re: married at ROR April 2009 & thinking about going to Sandals Montego Bay Yes, I think we are more leaning towards Sandals Montego Bay and not the Royal Car.
We were also looking at Sandals in Negril, but we are not keen on the distance!!! How long do you think it is from ROR to Sandals Negril
Would you recommend going to Sandals Montego Bay or do you think for our money its probably better to try somewhere else?! I was worried about the part that it is one of the oldest Sandals properties, but knowing that it has seen some major refurbishments makes us think it will be worth while! |

 | Re: married at ROR April 2009 & thinking about going to Sandals Montego Bay It's about a 2.5 hour drive with a private driver- longer if you are taking the provided shuttles to the airport.
I definately think that it's worth the funds ! The food is great at Sandals and the staff is wonderful ! The resort looked fantastic when I was there. As far as room categories go - most have been refurbished a handful have not as of yet.

Just curious to see what people have to say about this resort and area! Thanks | The only thing negative I've really heard is about the airport noise. Might not be too relaxing with all that. I've been checking out TripAdvisor periodically to read reviews. Some are helpful, others you can just tell are written by people who are never happy with anything!
The one plus is that it's definitely close to the airport. The one thing I'm not looking forward to is the 2 hour bus ride to SGOR!

 | Re: Thinking about Honeymoon @ Sandals Montego Bay I constantly check Trip Advisor!!! It is true, some people just are not happy with anything!!!! Thats why I decided to write on here to see if I can get some other views, hopefully positive ones..I have read that you get used to the noise of the planes and eventually dont even notice it! So if thats true, then I will be goood! I just wasnt sure about the rest of the resort, how it holds up (because it is rather old!), etc.. But I have talked to others and they were very helpful!!!
Yes, the drive to ROR will also not be pleasant as its like 1.5 hour drive!Eek! Oh well! |
