So, THIS is why people say that Destination Weddings are less expensive! I am in the middle of planning for our ceremony in the Riviera May AND for an at home reception at a swanky place back in PA after we return from our ceremony. The costs are getting outrageous, but if we just had the ceremony and reception in Mexico, then it wouldn't be bad at all!! Anyway, I pretty much have to have a reception back home b/c I freaked my parents out by having the DW b/c they had always envisioned the traditional wedding. So, my parents are now going to pay for the AHR and my FI and I will pay for the DW. Seems like a good compromise and hopefully won't break our bank....

We aren't having an AHR. I already know that even if I put that together that would cost us another couple thousand at least.
We will however show our video very casually and get some food from a local spot $200 max including beer.
I think if you have a DW to save money and then host a AHR it kind of defeats the purpose. JMO

For those of you having at home receptions, are you going to do favors?
