At first we planned to have one, but then after thinking about it, it was going to be another expense that we didn't want. Now we're talking about having something simple & casual before we leave, in the place of a shower & AHR, the only reason we're considering this is because we think there are a few close family members that we don't think will be able to afford the trip & some close friends with small children that also may not make it, but I'm going to enlist the help of my sister & friends to plan this part for me, as much as possible. I don't want to have anything else to do when we get back.

I'm torn on this too. We wanted to have something when we get home, but if we invite everyone, we would have over 200 people there. It kinda defeats the purpose of going away if we're still going to have to pay a per person charge on food and drinks. Now, I'm considering having something informal, but I wanted to be able to wear my dress again. I don't know and really don't feel like planning or even thinking about it right now. We have less than 3 months to go and I don't even want to mention the fact that I'm taking my last MBA class during the same time period. We'll see what happens...

Since it will be just Karen and I in Tulum, we decided to have a little get together when we get back. We contacted our favorite local Mexican restaurant and they gave us a price of 12-25 per person for a full 4 course dinner! We were expecting much more than that.

we are having our AHR on 2/17 and expect about 150 guests. We invited nearly 300 but our friends and family are so scattered around the US we knew many wouldn't come. We are making it like an open house with wine, beer and hors deuvres and i am getting a cake since i didn't have one in Cabo.

i have to say that i really didn't want one at first but now I am looking forward to saring our pictures and memories with everyone who couldn't make it t cabo.

the whole thing is costing us about $7500, money we don't have and greedily hope we will cover in gifts :)

Good day to have the AHR (that's my birthday) I am sure it will be fun and $7500 is not that bad-will you wear your dress again?

We are having a full blown one... but casual- Mexican old world theme... a reception hall, simple but fun...we are diy our food, the hall comes with a bartendar so we are paying for keg beer and margaritas-

Full DJ and cake cutting, since we are not taking our kids to Mexico and so many people are not joining us down there this gave us an chance to celebrate with everyone and introduce "our family"

We are not having an AHR. One reception is enough for us.

We are having a disagreement on this issue. I feel there are people who won't be able to come but would love to celebrate with us. But he says that the important people are coming and that is all he cares about. So far we had agreed to have a backyard celebration - very informal.

We were not supposed to have one, but now 2 of his close friends probably can not make it to the wedding. So, he wants to do one. We are talking about it. If we do though, it will be simple for sure, maybe a BBQ, something not too expensive because we will have a lot of people for sure. At least then we can register for gifts, if we have one. I was missing that part of getting married :)

I am not having one. This is costing me way too much as it is. The FI and I don't even live together so when we come back we will probably move into a cardboard box b/c we will be so broke. Nonetheless I plan to bedazzle my cardboard box and place that box outside Park Avenue so I still feel like a Park Avenue Princess. But if you would all like me to crash your AHR I will gladly oblige.
