Beginner Bride - Estimate Help!

Recommended Posts

I'm new to this whole thing and was hoping for some help as far as estimates and budget planning. If any of those who have already gotten married at ROR or already have planned for their upcoming wedding can provide me quotes on how much they have spent - it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Here is what I'm spending at the ROR:

"free wedding package"(incl. minister & legal fees): $250

hair at Renova Spa: $85

cost of Welcome Party @ Seagrape: $700 ($10 per person)

cost of wedding dinner @ Plantation for 4 hours: $1000

cost for open bar @ Plantation: $850 ($10 per person)

dj @ Plantation: $600

wedding cake: $250

steel drum band: $350

upgraded bridal bouquet: $159

2 corsages for mothers: $40

aisle runner: $45

photographer: maybe about $1000

What I'm not paying for (free at ROR):

rehearsal & rehearsal dinner

using basic decorations at ceremony and reception

not upgrading bridesmaids bouquets

not getting an upgraded menu for the wedding reception dinner

Hope this helps!

I just got back this weekend from my wedding, here is what i spent:

$250 for ceremony/minister

$350 steel drum band 1hour

$250 rent the disco for 2 hours- this included open bar and dj

$120ish for hair (trial and day-of)

I brought my own bouquet and ceremony decorations, there was no charge for these to be hung and I brought my own photog. The florist emailed me this weekend (a week after my wedding) with price qoutes for the bouquets that I liked and they were all $180-$250, matching bout $40 each, and hair orchids $15 each. The bouquets are the ones in my siggy below.

I will be posting my review with details either tonight or tomorrow, but feel free to PM me if you have specific questions.

We are definitely trying to do something on the same budget as you. Some of the brides have easily spent 20k on a destination wedding and my whole plan was to do destination to save money and allow everyone to travel elsewhere. Where did you get your bouquets from? What kind of reception did you have? And how many people came to your wedding? Thanks so much, I don't know why I didn't utilize this forum earlier.

I am with you completely, this is a part of the reason I choose ROR. First my dream has always been to get married on the beach but secondly, I was looking at how fast the costs were building for a local wedding and then when I came on this site (just being curious) and say what people were talking about spending for a Destination wedding..... I was sold immediately, and it didn't take much convincing to get the fiance on board with the idea, he loved it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
