karma: 10 | San Diego Marriott Review
I just got back from a quick weekend getaway to San Diego. My FI, future step daughter Angela and I went because Angela is studying the California missions in school and thought we would visit the first mission built.
We stayed at the Marriott by the Bay...on Harbor Blvd. The hotel was remarkable, I was very impressed. They had strawberry water and fresh lemonade in the lobby for anyone to take. Check in was a breeze and they gave Angela a kid goodie bag. She loved it.
We got a club level room on the 25th floor and had a magnicifent view of the bay. The room was roomy, comfy and quite nice. The beds were awesome and had down comforters...love that. Angela felt like she was a princess.
The bathroom was huge and had great lighting for makeup.
We did a 1 1/2 hour tour on a SEAL boat. This tour starts on land and drives around then it goes to a boat ramp and gets in the water. It was pretty neat. The big highlight for the tour was looking at the smelly seals. I have grown up with freaking seals so I don't get the thrill. They are smelly, gross and just plain yucky. The boat tour was cool and I did learn some neat facts about San Diego.
We ate dinner at Molly's (which is in the hotel). We are definitely foodies and were extremely impressed. The food was amazing. Angela had a cheese pizza and proclaimed it the best pizza in the world. Brian and I had a trio of cheeses and they were so yummy! Even Angela tried the different cheeses and loved them...including the blue cheese. I was quite shocked that a nine year old would love blue cheese. Brian got the halibut and I ate the sirloin...both dishes were amazing. I can't say enough about how great the food was. The ambience is like a steakhouse, but would be great for a RD.
We finished our evening with a carriage ride along the bay and then headed back to the room. We did go all out and ordered a chocolate sundae from room service. Yes, we spoil Angela. It was super yummy and an end to a prefect day.
Today we had the breakfast buffet at the hotel. It was the normal Marriott buffet, but quite good.
We then headed to the mission. In all honesty the San Diego mission is by far not as exciting as the San Juan Capistrano mission...but the church was beautiful and so were the grounds. I kept on thinking that it would be a wonderful place to have a wedding.
After our four hour tour of the mission, we headed to Old Town San Diego and had the best Mexican food ever!!! Ok, seriously I am Mexican and this is literally the best thing except for my own mother's cooking. The restaurant was called Old Town Mexican Cafe and OMG...I got the enchiladas rancheros, Brian got the carnitas plate and Angela got the cheese quesidella. So good!! Their homemade tortillas with butter were delectable. Gosh, I am still full!!!
All in all a great trip. I hope this can help someone.

Old Town really has the best Mexican food. DH and I have yet to find anything decent on the east coast and so whenever we go back home we pig out on mexican food.
Glad you enjoyed your SD weekend, I am beginning to miss it a lot.
