When I was first looking for a dw resort my FI and I were really excited to book at EDR...we were pretty close to signing the contract but when we asked about their outside vendor policies etc... we decided this wasn't the palce for us. We wanted to have 100% control over our own wedding, after all we only get to do it once. I think that its important for us to come together and voice our displeasure with the resort's policies. If we don't then I agree that other resorts might pick up on the idea that this is acceptable, and implement similar policies themselves. I don't view this sticky as an attack on brides that have chosen EDR as their preferred dw resort, nor do I see it as an attack on those brides that in the future might choose it. I think this sticky is important (a)to inform brides about their policies because they might not be aware of them, and (b)to give a voice to those of us who are unhappy with them. The only way to get through to greedy businesses is hurt them where it matters...$$$$$.

I asked about this because was planning on hiring Claudia before deciding to fly somebody in with me. Also I hired an external videographer and didn't have to purchase a day pass. And as I posted in the DT thread, you can certainly bring flowers from Angel's, I did without a problem.

I am currently planning on getting married at EDR next month. Whether or not we stick with our plans to have our wedding there, we will not be recommending this resort to anyone. I have already told a friend of mine who will possibly be planning a destination wedding later this year to take her business elsewhere.
However, should the policies change, I would be more than happy to recommend EDR, as they have been accommodating and have a beautiful resort, as long as we are treated well while we're there.

I think the word boycott just sounds funny in general.. Sounds like a beavis and but head moment... "hey Butt Head, lets go boycott something... uhh uh uuhhh ok"

Their vendor policy is why they never even got put on our 'possible' list when we were planning our wedding.
I refused to let a resort blackmail us into using their house services.
Just say no to resorts that make things difficult for you. Dreams Tulum was more than accommodating as far as using outside vendors.
