karma: 3 | Blizzard in April... WTF?
Seriously why do I live in Minnesota?
We are current under a blizzard warning. To the point that the University of Minnesota Duluth cancelled school for tomorrow (Friday)... even though at this point in time we just have wind. (no rain or snow)
Who gets a foot of snow in April
Argh... well after spending way to much time at the grocery store.. I am now home and ready to be snowed in with my boy!
...BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 7 AM CDT SATURDAY...
A BLIZZARD IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP AT THE HEAD OF THE LAKES THIS EVENING... STARTING AROUND 7 PM...AND CONTINUING INTO FRIDAY NIGHT. TRAVEL IS EXPECTED TO BECOME DANGEROUS VERY QUICKLY THIS EVENING. POWERFUL NORTHEAST WINDS GUSTING TO 50 MPH WILL DEVELOP THIS EVENING...ESPECIALLY NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR. THE INTENSE WINDS...COMBINED WITH SNOWFALL OF UP TO 2 INCHES AN HOUR...WILL MAKE FOR TERRIBLE DRIVING CONDITIONS TONIGHT. WHEN THE STORM HITS...IT WILL NOT MOVE IN GRADUALLY... IT WILL HIT SUDDENLY AND WILL BE VERY INTENSE. VISIBILITIES WILL BE NEAR ZERO AT TIMES!
TOTAL SNOWFALL THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT IS EXPECTED TO REACH 10 TO 15 INCHES FOR THE TWIN PORTS...FLOODWOOD...KETTLE RIVER...POPLAR AND SOLON SPRINGS. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE... ESPECIALLY IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN ADJACENT TO LAKE SUPERIOR.

I always find we get one good snow storm the beginning of April, and then the weather gets nice...hopefully it's the last round for you!

I know... just a week ago we were down on teh boardwalk enjoying spring!
I will defintely take some pics if I can. I am waiting for Sean to get home and would like to run down to the lake before the storm hits. The waves are huge right now... and the lake is filled with white caps. I heard rumors of 9 foot waves and concerns that canal park (a small island type thing?) might flood... but have no clue if its true.

it was finally nice here, its been rainy and over cast for two weeks now.
At home in Nevada we always had at least one snow storm in May or June, but never a blizzard.

Hehe... in all honesty we can't complain to much because we were given a really mild winter. I think that the weather guy said we recieved like a foot less than normal... so tonight should put us right back on track.
I'm just realizing I'm so not a winter person... the thought of more snow (espeically though in April) really depresses me.
And if its going to happen, fine. But couldn't it at least occur on Monday or Tuesday ... so we would get a few days of school off out of it! Sure we have tomorrow - but 2 of my 3 classes were already canceled for other reasons so I wasn't planning on going anyways!
