My Hair Turned Orange!!!

ok to make a short story long.....

I have dark brown hair (use over the counter stuff because of my greys) but dark brown is my natural hair color. So decide for the wedding I wanna go medium brown with some blonde, honey highlights.... Think its not going to be a big deal right? WRONG!

So Saturday I go and tell her what I want. She says well right now we will jsut do the medim brown color so your hair doesnt get too damaged in one day, so thought that would be okay.

Well she puts this stuff on by hair to "get rid of the color" so basically my hair is likgh BRIGHT orange and blonde. She said she had to do this because she doesnt want to put color on top of color. So then two hours later she puts the medium brown color I want on. Well the salon didnt have the best lighting and after being there for 3 hours I was in a hurry and had to be somewhere....

Soooo The brown never really hung on to the hair and now its blotches of red, orange and brown..... OMG I called her the next day and said I had to get in right away and the soonest my schedule works with their isnt till thurday. So in the mean time I am walking around like a cheetah/homeless person with their hair on fire!!!

I am so sorry saraha!!! I'm laughing at your last sentence!!!

This is the story of my life!!! I use box dye all the time to cover my greys too!! Then in the summer and for my wedding I like to have it lighter with blonde. Now while I do like the carmel/honey color...on me it is more orange and brassy and I hate it. All my friends get their hair the way the want it and I always hate my hair!!! I have had so many people do it because I thought it was them and now I think it's me!!!

This new gal I went to 2 months ago said that it would take her a while to bring the blonde up..but she put bleach or whatever in it and then did an all over color on the rest to cover the grey and the highlights spacing turned out really good and I loved that part...but the "blonde" highlights were orange...whatever though she told me it might not work the first time so I let it be.

Then I go last friday for round two. I tell her okay I love how you spaced the highlights last time I just want those lighter and maybe you can go a shade or two lighter on the overall color. What did I get?? Well the whole top part of my hair is orange! You can see maybe 3 blonde streaks and a little dark but the dark isn't coming through as much so it looks more like all one colore vs highlights and she apparently did only a partial so the whole underneath is DARK!

I am freaking out now because the next time I go is right before the wedding!!! I don't know if I should go to someone else or just cross my fingershuh.gif

Sorry to hijack your thread w/ my drama...but I really wanted to let you know that you aren't the only one!!!

That's awful it's every girl's worst nightmare. I hope that they are going to right the situation for you..... See if you can have the head color tech correct your hair and tell them that your hair has now been damaged and you want your money back. Good luck......a girl's hair means everything!

Wow Michelle, looks like were in the same boat. And your so funny, you didnt hijack the thread! The problem with me though is that she was not going to start the highlights until the next time. So this time only was just supposed to be one shade lighter brown that what I usually am, and by lighter brown I mean like a medium.... And ORANGE on the top, bronzie blotches all over and the back of my head when you look more of my roots its BLONDE!!!

Oh Sarah!!!! I can't even imagine. I never used to color my hair, but when it started getting gray, my stylist suggested some highlights for coverage. And she made me promise to never, ever try to touch it up myself. (I'm lucky because my hair is light enough that I'm okay for a few months so it doesn't cost me every penny I own to get mine colored.)

She did warn me that the boxed color will have an impact on how the salon color takes (hence the reason she made me promise not to do it).

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Let us know how it goes.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
