Something to consider (very seriously, esp. for Canadians!) is the fact that the humidity is WAYYYY higher in tropical destinations. Anything down and curled with rollers or an iron has a good chance of going droopy without a sh*tload of hairspray... something to consider when picking a style...
I'm not trying to be a party pooper, but I was in a wedding a couple of years ago (first time to the carribean) and I did my hair half up./down with beautiful looping curls, and before we even got to the ceremony location, it was a dragging, droopy mess. I have a lot of natural curl to boot, so when the humidity hit the hair, it was not so good.
Something to consider: bring extra hairspray!!!

Girls - yes on the humidity situation! Times I've vacationed in Cabo I've been a total pony tail girl, otherwise it took a boat load of hairspray to get anything to stick. I highly recommend John Freida's anti-humidity hairspray, it really works. I think it's from the "Frizz Free" line.

And it's not that I think I am just so beautiful that I don't need it, it's really that I am too lazy to deal with it! lol And I can't stand the feel of "stuff" on my face. Even some lotions just make me want to wash my face right away. I may see if one of my friends can do it - and that way they can practice all they want before the wedding! Thanks for the tip! | I am glad that had my make-up done professionally. I wear very little make-up too, but I wanted to look a little more made up than normal. These make-up artists know how to use little make-up too. Just do a trial. During my trial, my stylist (who also did my make-up) put top and bottom eyeliner on me and I just felt like it was too much. It sealed the deal when I got home and my husband saw my make-up and sort of chuckled. When I asked what was so funny, he said, you're just so made up! That sealed the deal for me. I e-mailed my girl and said no bottom eyeliner. On the wedding day it looked really good. A little more than I'd normally wear, but I didn't look like a clown. The make up is rerally important for pictures. I recommend wearing false eyelashes. Not the long 60's retro looking strips, but they make individuals and look really natural!

Oh yes, my hair just loves humidity, lots of frizz, even when I straighten it. I spend most of the summer with my hair pulled back for that reason.

My hair is naturally very curly and frizzy but a couple of years ago I got the japanese straightener which I live by and recommend to anyone who absolutely hates their curly hair and is constantly blowdrying it straight. I can be in 100% humidity and my hair stays pin straight with not a hair out of place. I'm talking no frizz whatsoever. And if I go in the pool and get out my hair will dry in place as if someone blew it out for me. It is the greatest thing ever. For those girls who have short or fine hair I would def get extensions. Jessica Simpson has a great hair extension line and will make hair look fuller.

Well the official name is "Thermal reconditioning" but it is a process that was created in Japan and is often referred to as Japanese Straightening or Magic Perm. It is a long process (about 4-6 hours) in which chemicals are placed in your hair to straighten it out, and then they wash your hair out and then they straighten your hair with a straightening iron (literally tiny piece by tiny piece) and then they add a neutralizer to keep it straight like that. For three days after that you cannot wash your hair, or put your hair in a ponytail, or put your hair behind your ears. It's great for people who have thick or frizzy curly hair. Even people with wavy hair whose hair refuses to stay curly or stay straight get it, and it looks fabulous. So your hair goes from being literally a fro to looking like you have a japanese girl's hair. Pin straight.

I'll have to look into that Glenda. I have fairly curly hair naturally, and when we did our engagement pics, I just let it be curly with lots of hairspray! But, I really like it straight and it's hard for me to get it to stay that way.
I'm leaning towards the half up, half down, but I may end up going all up because I will want my pics to look different than my e-pics.
And, by the way Glenda, you and your FI are SO CUTE! I can't believe you didn't want to post a pic, you silly girl:)
