Default Computerized Digital Die Cutter - Not Cricut

Does anyone have a computerized digital die cutter? I'm thinking of buying one. I am not talking about the Cricut, that takes cartridges. The machines I am looking at (Xyron Wishblade, Quickutz Silhouette, or Craft Robo) all hook up to a computer via a USB cable and have software that lefts you design and cut anything. You can even print out something on your normal printer and send it through the cutter.

I've been doing allot of research on these and think I know what I want, but I was looking to see if anyone had one so I could get some feedback. I've wanted one for a long time and all the DIY plans I have for the wedding might just finally justify a purchase. It cuts vinyl and t-shirt transfers and I want to make “Bride” Tank tops as a first project.

I have the Quickutz Silhouette, and I really like it. Actually there are websites and groups you can join that share files too.
For the Bride tanktop I went to the craft store and they have the rhinestone "bride" and bridesmaid iron on for t-shirts. they turned out really good.

What made you pick the Quickutz over the other options? That one looks great, but I found a deal on a Robo thats $50 cheaper w/ bonus stuff.

I know that you said not a Cricut....... but people have been developing software for it that lets you get around using the cartridges.

but check out this software...
Craft Edge: Scrapbook Software to Cut True Type Fonts and Shapes with Cricut

Also, this software is free
Inkscape. Draw Freely.

and it lets you save it to a file that is will work if you Purchase the Sure Cuts Alot.

With both programs you can use the Cricut to design something and then cut it out. I have both. Unfortunatly I didn't have them when I was doing my boarding pass invites but I have have used them for several different cuts that I have designed.

Still I would love to have the other cutters but they were way more expensive than I wanted to spend.

I know about the extra software w/ the Cricut...but its biggest drawback for me is that it doesn't have a digital eye. After using the machine to create my DIY for my wedding I want to be able to use the machine in my business to create unique signage and packaging...and that feature will be needed for that.

I found a seller on EBay that has new Craft Robos for $249...I'm seriously thinking about that as it's even cheaper than a Cricut

Oh yes, If you found the Craft Robo for that price... Go for it! I have played with one at a local Scrapbook Shop and I loved it. Actually they are all pretty cool. Good Luck to you!

Just wondering if you went ahead and bought one of these machines? My daughter wants "something that connects to the computer and cuts stuff" for her birthday so I'm doing research on them now.

Which one did you go with and how do you like it?

I haven't bought it yet, but I'm going to get the Craft Robo because it seems to be the bet deal. I like the Silhouette best, but not enough to justify the extra $75 to $100 more. Check out EBay...that is where I've seen the best deals.

Thanks for the ebay tip. I'm trying to figure out which one would be best for her. It looks like the Craft Robo is more 'plug & play' than some of the others? And it includes the software needed to use a computer?
