I've realized the packages don't include a sound system for the ceremony, music for the reception, gazebo decoration, centerpieces for the dinner tables, dance floor..etc... so watch out for all the extra things...they add up!
Sound system for the ceremony and 4 hours or so for the reception runs somewhere around $1000!!! All of the extras that are NOT included in the packages add up quickly!

I personally think that Dreams needs to get their sh*t together with all of this crap. They are telling people all kinds of different stuff which leads me to believe that they are just getting all that they can out of us.

Default Re: Question for all of you dreams brides

Today I received an e-mail from a DJ company. Claudia had e-mailed them to send me some of their packages and price information. However...Claudia put in the e-mail, that she had sent the DJ, that my wedding date was Oct. 14 (Sunday). So now I'm freaking out because my wedding is Oct. 12 (Friday). We switched the date back in Feb. from the 14th to the 12th, and I spoke personally to Claudia on the phone to confirm the date change. I sent a frantic e-mail and left her an urgent voicemail. I hope she made a typo and has not booked my date with anyone else. AAAA!!!! I am just trusting everything will turn out. I already have several guests booked! All I know is that they need to get her some more help. I am frustrated about the response time. I have sent her two e-mails over two weeks ago, and have yet to get any kind of response. I understand that she has several weddings a week, but.....
...Anyway, yes costs add up VERY quickly. And I also thought that the $60-65/per "extra" person for the "gold" package cocktail hour and dinner seemed steep considering that it is an AI, and all the guests would be eating and drinking for free if not at the reception. Maybe when I have a better idea on my numbers, I will try to negotiate a better rate. They have to remember that none of those guests would even be there, spending $ on rooms, if not for the wedding. Weddings bring in a lot of revenue for them.

If anyone is interested, here are the DJ packages I received from "PSAV Presentation Services".

Yikes. I'm getting married at Dreams Tulum, and the wc there has been great, but she never mentioned that using our iPod at the reception and wedding might incur more costs!
I had better email her soon.

Another thing--
It is very confusing to me that extra guests are about $50/apiece since they all paid the all-inclusive food and drink price. Does that seem wonky to anyone else?

I guess its basically to cover costs of setup and stuff & having extra servers, but I agree with you.

Ok...here we go
Jilly...do you know that if you have 5 rooms or more booked, you get the Wedding in paradise package for free? That way you don't have to worry about staying longer than you really want at Dreams. That's what we are doing. We just didn't need a lot of what was offered in the larger packages and we are going to have ~80 ppl, so we went with the "free" one and customized it from there.
Susan - I just got my contract for the wedding and Claudia charged me $1000 for the dj for 4 hours (and the cocktail hour if it was going to be held in the same location as the reception). I wonder if it is the same company and she just automatically gave us the lowest package. Did you get a website from the company that you have the price quotes from?
Also...any of you girls have the prices for the lower level bouquets. I have prices for the VIP ones, but none for the others. I was wondering what the price difference is (VIP bouquets are no where near the $60-90 Claudia originally quoted)

The DJ company sent me a list of their packages (I will attach). The cheapest package is $800, and the next (which adds stationary lighting) is $1250. I'm sure her quote was for the lowest package. I wonder why the extra $200. Interesting. I did not get a website from the company, but there is an e-mail address and phone #. I sent out an e-mail yesterday with a few questions about song choice. I want to be able to send a list of songs to be played. I also wanted to know if the DJ was an MC, and if we could meet a few days ahead of time to go over a some details. I will let you know what I find out.
As for the flowers...I have pictures of the lower level bouquets, but not prices (I went with a package that includes the bouquet). I also have a price list for the VIP bouquets, but no pictures. Do you have pics of the VIPs? I wasn't thrilled with any of the basic bouquets. I have found a few examples of bouquets I love. I thought about getting a price quote from a local florist, and then sending a pic to Claudia to see what her quote is.

Random question....can someone explain how to put pictures right into a post?
