I know Magen's Bay is a gorgeous beach and all, but I am worried that there may be lots of people there on a Saturday afternoon. My wedding is (tentatively) on May 16, 2009. It's a Saturday. Janelle thinks it won't be private enough which is something I want. I don't mind some people, but I just don't want lots of people everywhere. She mentioned Limetree Beach. Do you guys have any other suggestions?

It's on the south side of the island. I think it's the most wonderful little beach. One reason is that I often find there's no one on the beach except us. Saturday there would be perfect because Saturday is switching day. Everyone leaves Saturday morning and the new people come in on Saturday afternoon. It's where my sweetie got down on one knee and proposed to me last August and where we will get married. If you'd like more information on it just ask.
Another beautiful, less crowded beach is Lindqvist Beach on the East end. It is a gorgeous beach, which was just re-opened after lots of legal wranglings. The views from that beach are phenomenal.
Brewers Bay is also lovely, but may tend to get crowded with families on a Saturday afternoon. Also in that area, which is really close to the airport, is Lindbergh Bay, another beautiful beach, and less crowded.
There's a great St. Thomas beach guide here: St. Thomas Beach Guide Be sure to look at all 5 pages. Ask your coordinator for specific information about those that interest you. She will probably know which allow weddings and which do not.
Such tough decisions...which beautiful beach to choose. Have fun!

I heard Cuba...which is why we are getting married there. Best beach in the world! :) (I might be biased! lol)

We do a LOT of weddings at Magen's Bay, but I have to say, we also try to do them earlier in the morning as to aviod the crowds! So this can depend on the time of day you choose to marry! We did our first wedding at Lindquist, and I heard it was wonderful! (I didn't get to do this wedding). It is such a beautiful beach and I am so happy that it is now being managed and taken care of.
Also ck out the cruise ship itinerary for the day, this can help determine how crowded the beach's will be!
Good Luck in your search!

Magen's Bay is busy or not depending upon when the cruise ships are in port. If by your luck there are NO cruise ships in port on your day, I would choose Magen's Bay over any other St Thomas beach location. Also, if the cruise ship is leaving port the evening of your wedding day, you can count on many beachcombers needing to leave by 4:00 pm.

Let me just say that I never considered having them cater my wedding party, even though I'll be spending two weeks there. Also, their lease there is not something that's really secure, if you're looking at a 2009 wedding date.
Mim owns a wonderful restaurant on Bolongo Bay. I would have your wedding coordinator talk to her about it rather than Jerry, her husband, who runs the Limetree Bistro. Just some strong advice.
Feel free to PM me if you would like more on this.
