Default Marriott FMR?

Has anyone had their wedding or know anyone that has done a wedding at the Marriott Frenchman's Reef Hotel in St. Thomas? just curious how the hotel itself is as well as beach/pool/food...any insight would be appreciated!!

i see the gazebo looks nice but curious to see if it looks that great in person!!!

I am looking to do a luau welcome dinner the first night on the beach so I am unsure if they will even do that there since they are on a cliff....

I was considering them, but after looking at their prices, it was way out of my range...

I am having my wedding at the Marriott and they told me that they can only do a lunch on the beach not a dinner. I opted for a welcome dinner on the beach at Bolongo Bay. We are doing a sunset catamaran cruise before the dinner and they are picking us up from the Marriott, and then bringing us back to Bolongo Bay for the dinner. They also said that they would arrange transportation back to the Marriott as well (for a fee of course).

That sounds like fun though! im surprised they can't do a dinner -- casual on the beach at night. That is so strange. What company are you using for the catamaran? I have been in contact with a vendor that is charging about $70 per person with open bar, snacks, snorkel gear. I haven't finalized my hotel yet and am still trying to figure that out. What month are you getting married? I am looking at November.

You didn't think that it would be too much to do the dinner at another hotel and transport people from the boat to the other hotel and back? That is my last step obviously with that activity...still working on the hotel portion. Is your wedding at Bolongo or is this a welcome dinner?

I have visited the Mariott FMR and would describe it is a large hotel/resort property. The property itself stretches both on the cliff and one of their Restaurants is on the beach level, open air type. The beach is not the BEST on the island, as is Magen's Bay...your very calm Caribbean Blue, white powder sand and breathtaking scenic beach.
The open air bar that is located on the beach level always busy, with many people from the cruise ships present. It is clean, updated, nice landscaping and furniture. Hope this helps you!
Best wishes towards your day in Paradise.

We booked the Heavenly Days Catamaran Sunset Cruise. It's a 2 hour sunset cruise with an open bar (champagne, wine, mixed drinks and rum punch) and snacks and vegetable crudite. It was $55 pp. The are picking us up from the Marriott and then bringing us back to Bolongo Bay for our dinner on the beach. I haven't finalized the menu for the dinner yet, that's tomorrow's project. They said that transportation would be $10 pp to bring us back to the Marriott at the end of the night.

Our wedding is less than a month away - April 25th!

I love my stay at this resort. However, I do want you to know that the food is just okay. And it is super pricey. The staff is friendly, the place is beautiful, the beach is just okay. i am jealous because i love St. thomas and would love to get married there!

Does anyone have price quotes on having a reception at the Marriott or are most people going some where else?

We had our reception dinner at Havana Blue. They have 3 different menus to choose from ranging in price from $75 to $100 pp. That is only for dinner and doesn't include drinks or a cocktail hour. It was pricey, however, it was truly an amazing dinner. Winifred, our event manager, was spectacular. The food was out of this world. Everyone of our guests is still talking about it.
The breakfast buffet at Windows on the Harbor was very good. We ate at Coco Joe's on the beach a few times and it was good. Drinks are definately pricey at the hotel, $8 per pina colada, so we bought our own alcohol and juice at the local supermarket (Pueblo) and saved quite a bit of money there.
