I am about to book my photographer, and I'm super excited but his contract askes for 50% at the time of signing the contract and the remaining 50% 15 days prior to the wedding. What do you guys think about that? What payment schedules have you guys been given by your vendors? Should I even be concerned?

We paid 50% down and then the balance is due 5 days after the wedding.

Good, I feel better now. Thanks. He is totally reputable, but all my other vendors are asking for the remaining balance on the day of the wedding. It just seemed weird. Thanks again.

Thats pretty much the norm. I ask for 50% for a retainer and 50% 30days before the wedding. I mean the reason why I choose to do it that way is I hate dealing with $ on your wedding day. Thats another thing that you would have to deal with and can be finalized before your wedding day. Trust me, the last things you want to be dealing with on your wedding are vendors and the money situation...

Thanks for the feedback. I had not thought about it that way, it makes perfect sense now. I'm off to sign the contract!
