Argh, it makes me angry that they are putting in all these new fees! We had guests from other resorts and they did not have to buy a day pass if they just wanted to attend the ceremony and reception. I wonder if that rule has changed as well.

I just heard back from Patty today regarding the use of an outside photographer, and she said there was a $100 as well... I was not told that I could not use an outside photographer. Yaay!!!

Who are the WCs now at the RPDC? I have tried contacting Micaela and Zulma. If there is someone more responsive please forward me their contact.
Thanks!

Thanks! | Patty, I believe, is the only other WC onsite (plus their respective assistants).
I know it feels like forever in between correspondence, but try to remain patient. They ARE running on Mexico time, and that, in our world, is a whole lot more laid back and slow! Plus, they ARE really busy, and getting busier...
I am positive that you'll hear something back soon. Contacting a new WC might just delay the process, as they won't be familiar with you (though I'm not sure HOW familiar your current WC would be either).
Just trying to be a voice of reason here...I know its frustrating, but, you WILL hear from someone. We're all sort of sitting in the same boat, awaiting our next delicious piece of correspondence!

Hi girls (and new guy!)! Sorry I've fallen off the face of the earth lately- I've been swamped at work and I go on an international trip on the 14th! AAAAHHHH!
Have any of you been able to negotiate a group room discount? I'm totally confused. I called the hotel's toll free number and there was a prompt for groups... just cause I'm nosy, I pushed it and got a woman named Denisse who said that group rates are available for people with over 8 rooms! Sounded strange, so I sent Denisse's info and email address to my TA to investigate. It took about a week and a half to get a response, but Paty emailed (not Denisse) my TA saying that there are no discounts available...
first off- what is different from working with the hotel discounts and the wedding ones?
second- Paty was working with me in the beginning and then seemed to pass me off to Micaela. Why is Paty getting involved again? Is she my coordinator or is Micaela?
I KNEW things were going too smooth!!! AAAHHHH!

New guy here :)
PM Antonia. She said she dealt directly with the hotel and got a better rate by doing so. She had 100 people so maybe that gave her more leverage.

We had 23 people and our group rate came out to be about $40.oo less, per person, per week. Not anything that was worth some of the hassle we had to go through. Next time I go on a group vacation, I would just tell everyone that they are on their own. I'm not jumping through a bunch of hoops for $40.00!

Seriously Sarah- $40 less PER WEEK PER PERSON? I have about 30 people coming, so I think it's safe to assume that any "discount" would be similar to yours... I'll just drop it then- I just wish they would get the story straight, though!

Hi Everyone-
It's getting close for me now...almost time for Mexico so I have been emailing Micaela more lately asking a few questions. I wanted to pass a couple of things along that I just learned. She said she did not recommend shipping anything to Mexico prior to the wedding...I had been debating whether or not to send OOT bags, etc. I am going to pack them now, but beware, that can get costly. My OOT bags are rather big. On Continental we can each check 2 bags and outside of that the next bag/box is $100. Oh well, I do love the OOT bags. The other thing Micaela told me was that the bell boy will deliver them to the guests rooms for $2/each. I thought that was reasonable. Also, Micaela said we would meet at 4pm on Wed. when we arrive. Our wedding is on a Friday. She said that we would go over all the details then. She said there was no need to discuss flowers, food, decorations, music, etc. ahead of time. Just wanted to let you know in case this is valuable to any of you.
Katy
