We were together just over 5 1/2 years before we got engaged, and will be together just over 6 years when we get married. I admit that I was incredibly impatient and antsy - I've known for about 10 years that I was going to marry him!

Engaged shortly before our "official" one year anniversary but a little over a year since we met. Not exactly being spring chickens and the both of us wanting to have little chickletts in the near future probably sped up the getting to know you timeline (I'm 33, he's 36).
We moved in together about a week before the engagement even though I said I'd never live with someone before the commitment was made (haven't lived with a b/f in over 10 years), I think he popped the question as his big step since I was willing to take mine! :)
