I think you get a point for reading.
I really think someone must have incorrectly attached pictures again. Several people have talked about losing points recently.

look on the lower left of your screen, all the way to the bottom - it says how many points for reading/posting/etc. | |

Helen points are a way to keep people from flooding the forum with downloading and buying since those are huge things for the server to do.
The bank is just that, a way to bank your points and you earn interest.
