karma: 1 | What time is your ceremony?
My photographer suggested that our ceremony start at 3:00 since the sun will set at 5:00 and that way we can make sure there is still enough light for pics. I am wondering if this is too early and am not sure what time the reception would start and if it would be too early for dinner, not sure what everyone will doing until the reception starts, any suggestions?
Thank you

I wanted mine to be the last one of the day (6:00 pm) so we wouldn't feel rush. Besides I've always wanted to have an evening wedding. :)

We are getting married at 3:30 in November for the same reasons - we will be having a cocktail reception and band from about 4-5:30 while we have pictures done and then dinner..

We are doing a 5pm ceremony on the same day as yours but in Cancun. Projected sunset at about 5:30pm.

Our ceremony is at 5pm in May so we should still have time afterward for some nice sunset shots.

Hi
I am also getting married at 5pm and wanted shots of both the daylight and sunset, so thought that was a good time.
We have our reception due to start at 6.30pm.
Maybe look at the projected tempreture of that time of year as it is always the hottest between 12 and 3pm. That is the reason I opted for later in the day, so that it was not too uncomfortable.
xx

Mine is at 5, and the sun is set by 7. I'm taking early photos at 3:30 or so, and then more photos after the ceremony. The wedding is reception is scheduled to go til 11:30 - not sure if that is TOO long?

If daytime pictures are important to you, then I would definitely start at 3pm so you don't feel rushed with trying to get the pictures done in time. The sun waits for no one.
With that said, we originally had a 5pm church ceremony followed by a sand ceremony and then the reception. Because the sand ceremony is the only part of the whole day that we are doing outside, I wanted to be sure we had enough daylight to get great pictures. So we moved the church ceremony to 3:30pm (full mass) with a cocktail hour after (while we take some pictures) and the sand ceremony beginning at 6:30pm since the sun doesn't set until 7:15pm.
