I found these three villas, one through a new vendor on here and the other two just searching.
All three are in the same area, Peterborg Point/ Peterbord Estate. Close to Magen's Bay where I hope to have the wedding. The Sign of the Dove
$2,765 per week
Number of Bedrooms 3
Number of Bathrooms 4
Sleeps 8 Three Palms Villa
$2,850 per week
Number of Bedrooms 3 and a cottage with 1 more bedroom
Number of Bathrooms 4
Sleeps 7-8 Aqua Vista Villa
$2,700 per week for 10, $2,900 for 12, $3,000 for 13
Number of Bedrooms 5 and a library as a 6th bedroom
Number of Bathrooms 4
Sleeps up to 13
They are all in the same price range. I could go with the first two, one for each family, or only the last one for everyone. The Aqua Vista Villa is 2 separate floors, each side on the family would fit comfortably on each floor. My concern is that I cannot find much about the last villa. It is not mentioned in many places and their schedule looks pretty empty. Should I be concerned? Renting directly from the owner makes me a little nervous to begin with... I have never done something like this.

Villas are a great way to go- just keep in mind that there is no place for someone to get away - and that includes you & your fiancee!
If there are different personalities that won't mesh perfectly it may be hard to put both families up at the same property.
I love my in laws but I could not stay in the same villas as them for a week-I would lose my mind and also drive my MIL to lose hers- we are just too different! I could easily stay at the same resort- just not the same living quarters!

I stayed in a villa with my FI's friends in Tuscany. It was amazing! I highly recommend it.

We're renting a villa with 9 bedrooms for our immediate families and our wedding party. It's only for four nights, so I'm not worried about it and FI and I will not be staying there once we get married. It's off to a private cottage for us!
One thing you might want to be careful of is the bathroom situation though. In that third villa, who would end up sharing a bathroom?

We were thinking that if we got the 3rd villa then my fiance and I would stay somewhere else and just have our family stay in there. I think I saw the villa you are getting in another thread. It looked great! I am so jealous that you have a date set. Maybe I should just suck it up and pick one. I've ordered simple save the date cards from shutterfly that have May 2009 and St Thomas on them, so I cant really change that stuff. We are also thinking about going to Caneel Bay for 4 nights as our honeymoon after the wedding. If we did that I wouldn't mind sharing the villa with family for a couple nights. We also have a son, so even though this is going to be our wedding, I want to be with him as much as possible during everything so staying in the same villa with my family would be convenient for my son. Everyone can help us with him. If we stay at Caneel Bay, I'm guessing our parents will take him for that time ive never been away from him more then 2 nights. Those 2 nights were horrible. I think I started crying a couple times.
Anyways, here is my Save the Date. The inside is all blank so I can print it myself when I have all the info... | |

Another thing to think about: some villas come with a cook and household staff, some don't. Who would be buying the food and cooking for all your guests?

I looked into Villa's myself first but then it dawned on me that there is no way my parents would stay in the same vacation house together and I wouldn't put them in that situation either. My dad cant stand my mom's BF and I dont think my mom is settled on the fact that my dad is already remarried.
Anyway I think that doing a Villa is great if you can figure out the food situation. For certain groups it is cheaper to opt out of the all inclusive. There are some villa's where it includes the cook/chef and you tell them what you want, they tell you the price and you pay them to go shopping for the food they will need to cook.

DH and I stayed at a villa when we got married on St Thomas. We rented a private studio villa just for the two of us. There's no way I could stay with family for my wedding/honeymoon!
We rented from a villa rental agency and it was fantastic. Click on my "Planning Bio" link in my siggy and you can find pictures of the villa we stayed at along with the link to the rentalagency (they do larger villas as well).

My dad loves to cook. i doubt everyone is expecting us to feed them. I do plan on coordnating a dinner either at the villa or at a restaurant when everyone has arrived. Our families get a long pretty well and the way the last villa is set up, its like each family will have their own space.
