Dreams Cancun - DJ Option

Okay so i just did minor calculations regarding getting a DJ and they are super expensive!! WOW I am in shock. Does anyone know if you have to also on top of the DJ per hour charge pay the per hour Equipment rental charge

Now i know why everyone is always considering their Ipods??!! lol

Has anyone tried to get a DJ in the local area?? Any other options other then this ridiculas price they are asking for??

I don't have any options for ya... Most people are bringing their ipods or just burning a bunch of Cd's and having the sound dude play them.

Depends on how many guests you have...

Jilly brought her docking station and used her ipod and said it worked very well.
I had my ipod and the sound guy played it, actually mixed, the ends and beginnings of songs for us.
He did not announce anything, so he didn't do that kind of DJ duty.
I was actually very pleased with him.

We are lucky enough to have two DJ's in our wedding party. One of them is bringing all of his gear, we just may need to buy a speaker at Walmart or something down there. If this wasn't the case, we would use an iPOD or burned CD's. I know Paula and Susan had good experiences with their hired DJ's but I have heard of one or two not showing up to Dreams Cancun, especially for one girl who just posted her review recently (can't remember her name off the top of my head).

I didn't have a DJ, just the guy that operated the sound system.
You could tell he had DJ experience though.

I hired a Dj who is pretty decent priced. His name is Carlos Mannia from Mannia Cancun. He is $750 and he does the MC part as well. My photog Claudia Rodriquez highly recommended him. So far all communication has been great and he has a great song list!!!

Im not sure about a DJ yet. Im thinking about just using my ipod or making a ton of cd's and having one of our friends being the mc. The djs just seem so overpriced for something we can do ourselves!

I klnow what you mean about the prices, I think we're just hiring Dreams equipment like what Paula did and we are going to take an I POD and some CD'S my brother is a DJ so he said he would help but I don't think it is an option for him to take any of his own equipment because of the weight and size ect... but we've got plenty of time to finalize this, hope we've helped with your decision making ?

$750 is not bad to eliminate the headache. Do you have his contact info? I would love to have it when we start thinking about a DJ.
