Everyone is saying to make sure everything is going to be legal before you go. What should I do to ensure this?...

wow!! At 1st I was a little upset about having a symbolic ceremony, now I am so thankful!! This is so sad for those people that got scammed and for the many more who will fall victim to it.

I am not sure how it works in Canada ... but in the US, we are having a Notary Public legal wed us a few days before we go. (do a search for "symbolic" ceremonies). I would think it's similar for you -- just find out the easiest way to get legally married (courthouse judge, etc). We are doing ours w/o a ceremony, just paper signing, so we can save the ceremony portion for our DW.
